i saw that on TV when I was a kid, and years later, when I met his son at a friend's sister's party, I said something very, very stupid to him.

Who was that guy? Wasn't he a Pennsylvania official? My husband remembers that too.

Bud Dwyer. Yes, a PA official. I forget his position. I also saw it live as a kid. I was watching Channel 6 - which was the one that showed WAY too much of the gore before they switched back to the studio.

I saw it again on a Skinny Puppy compilation. It was even more messed up that I remembered it being.

hey man nice shot

*This song was written long-before Kurt Cobain's suicide for all you you conspiracy theorists, although it is about suicide. Richard says the song is based on the 1987 suicide of Pennsylvania State Treasurer R. Bud Dwyer who shot himself during a television press conference.

I stand corrected.

i've been glued to cnn... apparently he's accusing the prosecutor (a democrat) of political motives... apparently he also managed to appoint only partisan democrats the grand jury.

I hope he goes down hard, not that I don't admire him for all he has accomplished while truly being scum. I just can't wait to see Bush pardon him a few months after his trial ends, or even before it actually ever takes place.
I'm just not sure there is anyone else that the RNC can put in his place. They might actually have to try to put in a Livingston again and hope he doesn't have any skeletons in the closet.

I'm not understanding the Livingston angle here. He's been gone for six years.

He had been designated by Gingrich and Co. to be his replacement due to the controversy surrounding Dick Armey and Delay, but then his affair was publicized. That was the last time there was a major replacement of a controversial house figure, although Newt never got busted doing anything.

Oh crap. I missed the "a" in there. "a Livingston" not "Livingston". My mistake.

Dick Armey. Love it.

I wish that more than one out of 1,000 politicians were above sink scum level.

at this point I'm just seriously waiting for Scott McClellan's head to just explode off hs body. That dude deserves a medal for the amount of shit he has to spin/put up with.

Everytime I hear his name, I keep thinking of the time Howard Stern was making fun of him and said there was another politician called Vagina Navy.

The Dems will find a way to fuck this up. What many seem to not understand is that Republicans are now in a Dems-Post Watergate situation, whereas nothing they do effects them because of the massive ineptitude and brand problems within the other party....Awesome nonetheless. Hey Hammer, Don't drop the soap.
