Say you had enough money and pull to curate your own concert. You could have it where you wanted, when you wanted, and who you wanted. The only catch being that they have to be musical acts that are likely to be playing a show in late 2005. i.e. You can't bring people back from the dead, no band is going to magically reunite just for your benefit. What would the bill look like?

I've thought about it for a while and even with the capabilities of getting a group like the Stones to play my backyard or getting Belle And Sebastian to play an hour and a half at house party, I still think I'd just wind up with the following:

Fall 2005, outdoor venue
Probably a Saturday, show starting late afternoon, early evening
It's warm out but there's a nice breeze

The Be Good Tanyas open
Joanna Newsom is next
and Iron & Wine wrap up the day

The more I think about it, this would just do it for me over anything else. They all have similar styles so it would flow well and it's highly unlikely this will ever happen at all, so I don't feel too bad about using my one chance on this.

As long as we are dreaming:

On the grounds of Redlands, sometime in November:
Busty and Squirrgle play early afternoon
Big Bad Wolf play short set
Break to watch UGA play football
Widespread Panic play a short set at halftime
DBT's play after the game
Surprise 3am set by The Rolling Stones

I was thinking about DBT and WSP as well; Mine would potentially be a pretty long concert.

Stones (co-headliner)
Springsteen (co-headliner)
DBT
Fiona Apple (for the chicks and a nice mellow lead in for the big boys)
REM
Pearl Jam
David Byrne
Spoon (solid opener)

And I wanna see Byrne, Vedder, Stipe, and Bruce jumping onstage with the other acts. Except the Truckers---Stay out the way of the Southern Thing.

Location: Raised on bread and bologna.
Setting: Moderately sized bar with an outside deck/patio/beer garden with outdoor stage. Lots of booze on hand. Beer tubs and servers aplenty, so you don't miss a bunch of shit waiting for booze. Plenty of available bathroom space, even for the ladies.

Set 01: Show starts outside, early afternoonish. Schedule:
Oranges Band
Crooked Fingers
South San Gabriel/Centro-Matic
Tony Joe White

Set 02: As the sun starts setting, we loosen up a bit with:
Steve Poltz
Wally Pleasant
Robert Earl Keen

Set 03: It's early evening and dark, so we move inside to a low ceilinged, smoky ass dive bar type setup, that still has good sound and room to move without catching an elbow. The openers:
Mary Prankster
Mark Lanegan
Steve Earle
Marah

Set 04: Sufficiently drunk, we turn the volume up and try to bring the goddamn place down to nothing but the foundation:
Lucero
Trail of Dead
Supersuckers

Cant believe i didnt go see them when they played the other week. Arggh. Perry will be dead by the next tour, and his corpse will have to be reanimated with voodoo magic

I didn't go either. I thought it was a week later than it was and missed it.
