Okay, I just moved for the tenth time in eight years. I don't feel like it's been that bad, but at this rate i'm just sick of having CDs and books. I know for a fact that many of you have much larger music collections (I honestly have no idea who many I possess right now, but I'd guess around 3,000, maybe a bit more) than I do, and probably more books than I do (2 6'x6' shelves and then some), but i'm seriously considering just trashing almost all of my books and putting all of my CDs on an external hard drive or something. Because this is fucking insane. all of my shit is in the new place and I KNOW it's gonna be at least a week before this shit is even close to being in order. I can't be the only person that's moved around a lot, and I know there are people that packrat away a lot more shit than I do. So what have y'all done to make this easier? I'd put the CDs in books, but I did that like 5 years ago with a lof of them and I hate it. I don't even listen to most of the ones I have in books because I'm sick of flipping through them. any suggestions?

You could go with the LooGar ethod and just dump all your books and CD's at Redlands.

No complaints from me, however.Always plenty of listening and reading material.

Ship the books to me. I can build more shelves.

If it's possible, just stop moving so much.

We moved across the street about a year ago, but previous to that we'd been in our place for almost 10 years. Moving last year damn near put me in the hospital.

moving yesterday almost put me in a crazy ward. Home Depot on a saturday morning is like the second ring of hell for me. Moving my girlfriends' underwear with her father is like the fifth for me and the tenth for him. i should just get some storage space....in georgia.

i moved last thursday and friday. two fellow obners were kind enough to help, so big ups to them. i moved my records on thursday, but left the cds until friday. i had a box with about 300 cds and it broke before i even reached the door of my old place. and they'd actually been in order in the box! oh well.

i filed the records on saturday night and will probably do the cds tonight or tomorrow. yeah, i don't like moving music collections either.

I put my stuff in storage. I have been within driving distance of my storage unit for the last 3 or 4 moves.

I have no idea what I'd do if something like Katrina hit our area -- I'd probably drown, still trying to decide what to take with, and what to leave behind.

the last time i moved i stole a bunch of those mail tubs from work and used those to move all my cd's and dvd's. it was a lot easier than trying to put them in boxes.

I have moved 9 times in about 10 years.. I have less CDs than you but more books. What I have done is: stopped buying much music, stopped buying many books (but recently broke this rule recently)

Other than that, each time I moved, Id bitch that "this is it" and "no more" and "Im getting rid of all of it" and then 2 months go by and you forget and then you do it all again next year....
