NPR.org Supervising Producer, NPR Music
NPR.org is National Public Radio on the Web. We’re looking for a dynamic music producer, journalist and new-media thinker to lead the team that will turn NPR.org Music into a premier online destination for musical exploration and enjoyment. Help define the strategy and produce the musical and journalistic offerings that will translate the NPR sensibility into an online experience. This is a full-time position in Washington, DC.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Develops and implements an online music strategy. Plans and creates online music events and programming. Edits and produces music-section pages. Assigns, writes and edits stories. Creates multimedia content. Supervises online music staff.
REQUIREMENTS: Fanatical and encyclopedic musical knowledge. Significant professional experience in the music industry, particularly in programming and producing. Demonstrated excellence as a writer and editor, particularly as a music journalist. Demonstrable commitment to and/or knowledge of digital media, particularly experience on online publications or creating new-media products. Demonstrated ability to imagine audacious projects and then make them real. Experienced with issues of intellectual property, especially issues related to music rights. Experience maintaining high journalistic and production standards under deadline pressure. DESIRABLE: Experience with digital audio production, video production, photo editing. Knowledge of HTML.
