 Post subject: Obnerball 1 - Victory is mine! - (aka time to pony up)

A championship for the ages! My team of ultra underachievers (led by #1 and #3 picks and eventual bench warmers Carlos Beltran and Adrian Beltre), who spent the first month of the season in dead-last place, fended off a furious comeback attempt by previously unbeaten #1 seed Schadenfreude.

El Nacho de Muerte jumped to a big lead during week 1 behind the clutch hitting of Travis Hafner and David Ortiz (named Obnerall 1 Championship round MVP). But stubborn Scahdenfreude wouldn't quit. Scahdenfreude's Matt Holliday (away from Coors no less) and Jimmy Rollins hit everything in sight as El Nacho sputtered offensively during the second week. Their 10-0 lead all but evaporated, El Nacho was up 5-4 before Sundays games, with Schadenfreude behind by only 3 RBI, 2 saves, and both teams tied in BA at .278. But El Nacho's players all had solid days at the plate, and Schadenfreude couldn't make up the difference.

Both teams were affected by MLB teams preparing for the postseason as some players took time off (namely Furcal and Andruw Jones). But what ultimately killed Schedenfreude was that his pitching crumbled under the instense pressure of the Obnerball 1 final round. Chris Carpenter and Schadenfreude's entire bullpen pitched the equivalent of batting practice and his ERA and WHIP couldn't recover.

Total - Nacho 6, Sch 4



It was a great season, and I was very lucky to win. Thanks everyone, and I'm looking forward to next year. I'll have my CD list posted soon.
