My old boss gave me a $20 gift card to Borders for doing a good job, about 3 weeks before firing me for allegedly doing a bad job. Sorta. Anywho, this thing's been in my pocket since... April? Yep, april. I just called, and they don't expire, so what's:

1. ...less than $20 with shipping,
2. ...worth having, and
3. ...for sale at Borders?

It's possible that the Borders With Amazon means I can use it for Amazon purchases, but I'm not 100% on that. And I know, it's a dumb problem to have, but I haven't forgotten about this thing the whole time, I just take forever to buy anything. Right now that remastered Steady Diet Of Nothing is in first place I think.

Why don't you just go to the store vs having to incur shipping charges?

I think theres a decent version of Casablanca that (finally) just came out on DVD, and it's pretty cheap.

Special Edition of Monty Python & the Holy Grail, too.

Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak

I'm completely serious.

For a guy who likes the guitar solo the second solo in the "Cowboy Song" alone is worth the price of admission.

Not for nuthin.....

(guitar)I like to play it, but I don't always like to listen to it. That doesn't make much sense, but it's true. Now watching a band live, yes. I have been known to stand in front of a good guitar player, open my jaw, and not move until 3 hours later. But on a recording, it's just a tool, and I only care if it's being used properly to help construct something worth a damn. No guitar gynastics for me.

Thin Lizzy, though... hmmm. I do enjoy the singles, but don't know anything else.

AMG similar artists:

* The Good Life
* Ted Leo & the Pharmacists
* Guided by Voices
* Spoon
* Walking Concert
* The Oranges Band
* Modest Mouse

either of their albums are great, but this one was released this year and is right near the top of my list. Rowdy and raucous rock and roll.

Ok, someone at Borders/Amazon hates fugazi. The 30-second snippets they post for the track listing of Steady Diet are all the worst possible parts of each song. Reclamation is the jittery verse, not the explosively good chorus, etc etc.

This smells like our old discussion that I basically hate pretty much every bass player and really enjoy rythm guitar and drums more than anything.

we are weird kids cap'n.

I can't tell you how many people asked me about Robert Randolph (sp?) when I played pedal steel at that bar every week for 2.5 years... "Yes, I've heard of him. No, I don't listen to him."

It's one of the reasons fugazi is so good... solid rhythm work = VASTLY more important than exciting front-line work.

ANNOUNCEMENT: The Dead Milkmen album I was trying to remember the other day was "Soul Rotation." Amazon lists it, but doesn't even have the cover art photo. I recall liking this when I was 13.

I hate fucking 80's guitar herioc shit ala Steve Vai wankfests.

The Lizzy only does solos when they add to the song and IMO the solo I was talking about MAKES the song. I can get you a copy.

(rubs hands)... Everything's comin up 'Squirrgle.'

Now just get Big GAR and Dapper Derris to show up, and everything will be perfect. I'll stop by Sam's club for a 168-ounce can of campbell's chicken noodle.

I don't know if my limited hardcore enjoyment will bear this book out. I liked Minor Threat well enough, but I wonder if it's enough to get me through it. Good suggestion, though!

Loogs is in; Derris and Harry Monster will be contacted as well as Dr. Hassler+family.

Now I'm gonna have to cook and provide beverages, right?

What time is the Falcons game?

That could be a fine afternoon if the weather holds.
