So, I just had 4 cavities filled, and my whole mouth is numb. I go tneedles and the gas... Woohoo!

In two weeks, I have to have 2 wisdom teeth pulled...That is not making me excited, except for the day or two Im gonna take off from work.

Other then that, my teeth are fine...

You may call me Corky today!

Any recent dentist stories?

Weird, my 6 month checkup is today, 3:30pm.

Which reminds me: I should floss. They always bust my balls about not flossing.

I had my wisdom teeth pulled in January, all 4.

Not to scare you or anything, but it wasn't the best experience of my life. The procedure was fine (I don't remember a thing other than the surgeon saying "You're about to get real sleee...). It's the aftermath when you wake up that's the real bitch.

Never liked any dentist I ever had in NY. Since coming to Atlanta I found one that makes me totally comfortable + he's got cute gals who do your teeth cleaning.

If your dentist knows what's he's doing you shouldn't feel a thing when he gets your wisdom teeth out.

He has been on me about getting some kind of mouth guard because he says I'm grinding at night.

I had 2 lower wisdom teeth taken out last year.

Hate to say it but it was awful. I had it done in the morning and was in pain all day. I stayed doped up for 3 days. It's weird though, some people get it done and are fine the next day. Mine were impacted though.

I suggest stocking up on soup and some of those "breakfast shakes" you can get at the grocery store. I couldn't eat solid food for a week.

Sorry for story but I think i was on the bad experience end of the spectrum.

I hate the dentist but I did get some bang up pain meds.

I still have all 4 wisdom teeth, and a tiny jaw. And I'm almost 30. But they don't cause me any pain, unlike dental procedures. Last dentist said "you probably should pull 'em, but you don't have to."

I went about 5 years without visiting a dentist for a spell there recently, and when I finally went in, I had no cavities, and was told to "keep doing what (I'm) doing."

I went for a check-up/cleaning yesterday. If the dentist says he/she are going to use some sort of cleaning device called a "Cavitron," RUN THE FUCK AWAY. That thing was brutal and nearly had me in tears.

Yeah, I guess I should say that Derris is right about it being different for everyone. I didn't even know when he had actually taken mine out and had virtually no pain afterwards.

Yes. I didn't feel a thing until I woke up and I don't remember a lot about that. My girlfriend was with me and she told me I was telling the nurse how Georgia was going to win the National Championship or something. Openly don't remember any of that.

Also, i hope you don't smoke because they tell you not to because you could get dry sockets where the teeth were and that is supposed to be excruciating.

Yeah, I waited to get my wisdom teeth out (about 25 I think); 3 out of 4 were fully grown in; it was relatively painless and I was back to normal and just abusing instead of needing the meds within two days.

This was the GOOD part of my story that I left out.

my Mom said that I was babbling about the difference between the nitrous at the dentist and Grateful Dead shows.....

I stopped smoking until shit was healed----i had the fear of dry sockets something fierce.

oddly enough, I was looking at some forms to fill out for my new dentist and was making a choice between calling my insurance company or coming on here for the first time in the morning.

I came here and this was the first thing I saw. Also I have to take my kid to the dentist tonight for some dental work. Lovely. He's a trooper though.

I've said it before, I've been supposed to get my wisdom teeth out for about ten years now and I keep putting it off. But, I'm having lots of problems with my ears, sinuses and jaw now because they're so impacted, that's why I'm in the process of finally getting new dentist so I can get the bastards out once and for all. I'm thinking right after Thanksgiving so I'm not a mess for Christmas or Thanks.

Ugh. I hate the dentist with a passion, but if my son can do it, then I have to do it.

Both of the two that need to be pulled, are both visible already.. Dentis said its gonna be simple, since they are almost out by themselves.

But I am insisting I go totally under. I wanna be fully knocked out...The idea of watching them pull and yank, and chisel, even if there is no pain, is not appealing.

Hey, Atlantans, too bad I'm not around to pimp out my sister... she was a dental hygienist for a dentist in Peachtree Center downtown. She's great and very gentle, and I used to get the 'family rate' for going to see him. Where else could I go to get my teeth whitened for $100? She works in Newnan now, closer to where she lives.

Weird thing is, I had an appointment set up here with my dentist (who also happens to be from the ATL) in the next couple of weeks. I had to cancel due to some conflicting schedules and the next time they can accommodate me is.... JANUARY 11.

btw, had the wisdom teeth pulled when I was around 15, after I got my braces off.

I have all my wisdom teeth. Only one is fully through, one partial, the other two buried. The partial one flares up from time to time, enough so that I can't close my mouth or chew. I'm too fucking chicken to get them out. Also too broke most of the time to afford it.

Wisdom Teeth.
Get some frozen vegetables. Peas and corn work wonders. They are cheap and make the best ice packs, because the small individual frozen vegetables will form to your jawline, much like a beanbag.

I had mine yanked about 10 years ago. For the first day to day and a half, I would pop a Percocet and sit back with bags of frozen vegetables on my face. Twenty minutes on, twenty minutes off, just like they told you in football practice. I also made it a point to sleep as much as possible. After a couple days I had minimal swelling and really no discomfort. I actually had Percocets left over that made the trip back to college with me.

The only downside is that your face ends up smelling like peas.

i loved getting my wisdom teeth out, i wish i could do it again. no pain, got to sleep for like two days straight, and fun drugs to play with after i was functional.

i seriously enjoy going to the dentist, but then again i've never had a cavity or any other major work. it makes me feel responsible for some reason, and i love leaving the office all sparkling and clean.

10+ fillings, 3 root canals, braces twice, massive infection when I got my wosdom teeth out... I FUCKING HATE THE DENTIST.

I haven't been in like 3 years, but I actually takebetter care of my teeth now than anyone I know (3 bushes, at least one floss a day)so I don't intend on it until i'm bleeding from my actual teeth.

i have a wisdom teeth removal story. there was this oral surgeon in my home town where pretty much every kid went to get their wisdom teeth out. the thing about this oral surgeon - and this same thing happened to all my friends who went to this guy as well - is that he had you remove your pants before removing your teeth.

after i woke up my pants were somehow back on. i thought this was perfectly normal until i started telling other people about this and they thought it was really strange. was i molested? i may never know.

I really don't mind going to the dentist but the worst pain ever was when I had a back tooth pulled out. I had tears in my eyes.
