Petitte/Carpenter.

Carpenter has been roughed up a bit lately, including by the Astros last time he faced them. He absolutely shut them down the other times, though. Can Petitte keep his run going? Whad'ya think?

As a Cards fan, I think Carpenter will pitch well enough to hold Houston to a run or two late in the game. I think the Cards have enough offense to score a few runs on Houston early and possibly knock Pettite out of the game by the fifth inning.
I really think who ever is leading after three innings will probably win the game, especially if it is Houston with their pitching staff.

I think Pettite will keep it going. Astros may be a little tired after their 18 round bout Sunday, but they're running on pure adrenaline right now. They'll perform well under these conditions.

Pettite is the Robert Horry of baseball. Does absolutely nothing during the regular season (though he had a great year this time around), then is an lethal assassin come playoff time.

Wake up, people.

There's really no other reason to be living this month.

After Smoltz, Pettite is my favorite postseason pitcher, even when he played for the Evil Empire. Dude just brings it in the big games.

Plus he has a great move to first base. Ladies beware.

After Jim Rome decided to take a half hour victory lap this morning for interviewing Clemens I decided to head over to Dan Patrick. Dan kept talking about how Houston came into STL in mid July with Pettitte, Clemens & Oswald all starting & the Cards swept em.

Why does Rome have to ruin a great interview (and he is a good interviewer) by patting himself on the back for the next 2 segments & reading 10 emails on what a great job he did? He turns from one of the best to the equvalent of the defensive lineman who celebrating a tackle as his team is losing 49-3

With all of the opportunities that the Astros blew early, they didn't deserve a win. Bases loaded/one out, first and third/one out in consecutive innings and get 0 runs? Lose 5-3. Proper.

Go, Angels
