that would fit well accomanying girls dancing in their skivvies...

I am in a local burlesque troupe and am in need of a song for a number in a show we have coming up in December. The show has a fairy tale theme; we will be taking classic fairy tales and making them not quite so kid-friendly... I am doing Hansel and Gretel. I'd like to have a song that has a sweets or candy or something-along-those-lines theme to it. "I Want Candy" was mentioned, but I'm not a fan of that one and I'm drawing a blank. Help!

I swear I used to have some old burlesque songs I downloaded from Usenet. Let me look around.

I'm convinced this thread was just an alley-oop for doppelganger hoochie-mama.
Not that that's a bad thing.
Just sayin'.

As for a suggestion: "Lollipop"

"Wait (The Whisper Song)" is fun for all ages.

What about "Sugar Walls" by Sheena Easton.

Or "Ice Cream" by Raekwon & Method Man.

Not sugar/candy-themed but that "Doncha?" song by The Pussycat Dolls seems tailor-made for burlesque. Since, you know, they started out as a burlesque act.

I think girls dancing to The Klezmatics in their skivives would rock.

"Raspberry Beret" - Prince
"If Sugar Were As Sweet As You" - Rockpile
"The Candy Man" - Sammy Davis, Jr.

Three very different songs, yet all would be good, methinks.

oh man, there's a great 80's / new wave / synth act here that has a song called "Candy" that might be perfect. If you like, I can see if I can get an mp3.

The first song that came to mind for me was Warrant's "Cherry Pie" but that's a little more stripper than burlesque.

Then again my next suggestion is more stripper too so what the hell do I know:

50 Cent - "Candy Shop"

Sugar Cane - Sonic Youth. Not really a dance number but a great song nonetheless.
