I finally set my turntable up, and am gonna burn stuff to MD. I can always go from the MDs to CDs later.

I'm kinda psyched because I haven't heard a lot of these lately.

Lots & lots of Joan Armatrading
Screaming Blue Messiahs
Grin
Rory Gallagher
Yo
Max Webster (High Class In Borrowed Shoes, no less!)
Yesterday & Today's first LP
Willie Nelson's Red Headed Stranger
Cold Chisel
Cactus World News
The Records (Starry Eyes- yeah!)
Holly & The Italians

See anyone you recognize? 8)

Anyone want to buy my copy of Rush's Hemispheres? Side 1 is Rush, side 2 is CCR. Oops!

Screaming Blue Messiahs (Bikini Red is a great album - they kinda went off the tracks after that)
Grin (Nils Lofgren - now that you bring 'em up, I can't recall seeing any Grin albums on CD)
Rory Gallagher (the headliner of the second concert I ever saw - backed up by, yeesh, Trooper)
Max Webster (High Class In Borrowed Shoes was definitely their high point)
Willie Nelson's Red Headed Stranger (I vaguely recognize the name ;)
Cold Chisel (Australians really loved these guys - they never did much for me)
The Records (Starry Eyes - yeah!) I'll add another yeah!
Holly & The Italians ("Tell That Girl To Shut Up")

NOICE!

Hold onto that mutant Rush album...could be worth something someday.

I've got an unusual story about the Records...about 7-8 years ago, the local Best Buy stores got shipments of still sealed vinyl records & sold 'em for 50 cents each. This was around Xmastime...anyway, I picked up the 2 Records albums ( they only had 2, right? ) that way. $1 for both, still sealed.

It's the only time I've ever seen Best Buy sell vinyl - before or since. I picked up a couple other things, too...like the "Superman III" soundtrack because it had a Marshall Crenshaw track ( a cover of David Essex's "Rock On" ) that you couldn't find elsewhere.

I still have my minidisc recording deck although I don't use it much now since there's nothing on the radio worth recording.

Still, one of my better buys.

If Sony didn't have their head up their butts about this format, and brought prices down so Everyday Joe could have afforded the blanks, the MD might have caught on. Of course, now you can find blanks for cheap, but why? I've got 200+ that I can just erase over, and that's what I'm doing.

They were like cassettes, in the ease of use (sometimes easier), but sounded better.

Bla bla bla and what do I do with this broken, portable DAT player/recorder that I bought for $600 way back when?

Back when I worked for a Christian radio station (yeah, I did), we weren't very computerized yet and I used minidiscs for all interviews, news stories, mixing of live broadcasts. They were pretty cool at the time.
