I got my first jury duty notice this week. Oh the joy of it all. Got a write a letter now and get out of this, cause it falls right in the middle of final exams.

I think the fact that you can get out of jury duty because you're a student is a sign of being young.

I'm 17 and I find white hairs on my head every now and then!

My doctor says its because of stress. Is this true, or am I rapidly becoming a grandma?

It's probably just because of stress, though there also might be something in the drinking water...

I did. I got out of jury duty because of school and wasn't selected again for nearly a decade. I'm sure it depends on your city, etc., but I lucked out. I even wanted to go on jury duty just to have done it, but they didn't want me when I did actually "audition" for it. Losers.

City of Trenton, New Jersey (shudder). I'm just lucky I didn't get picked for grand jury duty, only petit jury.

I guess California is different. I know the laws have changed in the past few years regarding Jury Duty. Personally, I think it should be delegated to people who are unemployed and the elderly. They obviously have more time than the rest of us!!

I had jury duty for the first time last year and the prosecuting attorney rejected me. I got to sit in the chairs though.

I was picked for jury duty once. I showed up, and there were like at least 100 people there. And you had to sit around all day to see if they would even pick you for interviewing. When they let us out for lunch, I decided to say 'fuck it' and I went home.

I probably could've gotten screwed by doing that, but as it turned out I got a letter in the mail a few weeks later thanking me for my service. Ha!
