Why is it so expensive? That's basically what laserdisc players did.

I thought this was the most awesome thing in the world for about an hour yesterday until I was informed it was basically just an mp3 player that lets you d/l streams from Sirius and save them to it to listen to later.

Because it's audiophile. And they've sold more than three.

[patronizing]Think about it: it plays your records without touching them.[/patronizing]

Yep. I think most people would be shocked to see what "real" stereo nerds will drop for new equipment.

Laser turntables have been around for a while now. The idea is great but runs into formidable problems when put into practice (tracking, for one). Just browse audiophile forums. 15k is better off put into a TT than one of these.

The concept is cool, even if it isn't too practical. It said you can put a record that is broken in half back together in the player and it will play. Interesting...

You have to respect the man for this. Even if it does have a "Hanso Foundation" ring to it.

I dunno...it sounds like a bunch of people who take the fun out of something to me. Like someone who would bring a book about sex into the bedroom. Just stop it & fuck already.

Kind of like music geeks who post on online forums. :)
