In fairness to CT's 80's stuff, keep in mind that pretty much EVERY band that came out in the 70's had trouble figuring out what to do in the 80's. And as far as "The Flame" goes, the band themselves are on the record as not being big fans of the song.

Anyway...."Auf Wiedersehen" IS a classic. As is "Stiff Competition" . I've got 2 CD's worth of "Music For Hangovers" outtakes with pretty kick-ass versions of both.

by 'mind blowing' do you mean god awful? it's a good song, I just can't stand the outtake version. you can tell they're having a blast and fucking around w/ it in the studio, but i can only take so much of the backup "stiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiff" vocals

That's why I like it so much, much more raw and sloppy than the album version.
