It's been awhile since I've participated in a World Series Office Pool and am looking for suggestions. I don't think I'll be able to interest a lot of people to bet on each of the games and thought I'd have one big pool for the winning game or combined games.

What ideas do you have? What sort of series pools are there? I'd love any help you can give me since I basically need to get this rolling tomorrow.

Thanks!

I've never heard of an office pool for the WS.

One idea: Setup a 2-by-4 grid (Houston/Chicago along the top, 4/5/6/7 games down the side). Write down everyone's name and put them in a hat/bowl. First person drawn gets their name wherever they want in the grid (Houston in 6, for example). The next person drawn can only pick a square that's available.

This would be ideal for eight-or-fewer people. You can go larger by putting multiple people in each square, but that means splitting the pot. If you don't have a multiple of eight participating, people can kick up extra money for an additional space.

Thanks, Colin.

Typically, a pool has Team A on top, Team B on the side (one team is selected randomly, defaulting the other as Team B). There are 10 columns and rows, each representing numbers 0 through 9. Numbers are also selected randomly -- the ol' pull a number out of a hat until each column and row is filled. The end result is a grid of 100 boxes.

Prior to selecting the numbers and teams, people will pay $1.00 (or whatever amount you wish to determine) for each box selected. Potential winnings = $100.00. The winner is determined by the end score. For instance, Astros 6 (Team A) vs White Sox 5 (Team B). Whomever is in the box matching the score, wins the pot.

One idea I have is combining scores for each game by team, coming up with one grand total at the end of the series. For instance, Astros 41 v White Sox 37 -- 1 (Team A) and 7 (Team B) being the key numbers. The person occupying that box wins the pot.

Hope that's not too confusing. Like I said, I'm open to ideas.

No, that makes sense. I've seen the 100 grid for football games but never baseball. Total score works well here, though.

I thought this was equally amusing and depressing.
