How do people feel about Madonna?

I'm not sure of my opinion.

I was a bit young to witness her in her heyday. For instance, the only big event I can remember witnessing with her in connection with was the faux-kiss with Britney and Christina.

I love Bedtime Stories and Ray of Light.

She definitely knows how to take advantage of the music trends of the day.

Why does she blink 500 times per minute, I wonder? She and Dave are amusing to watch as they interact.

There was a time between 1995-2001 where it seemed there would be at least one Madonna song released a year that I would like.

I'm pretty sure the first non compilation album I ever bought was 'True Blue'.

Unlike some of my esteemed colleagues above me I don't mind Madonna at all. I've kinda grown up in tandem with her music.

I have exactly one cd single by her, Deeper and Deeper which I occasionally enjoy for the good remixes.

Madonna personally: annoying, especially her crappy movies.

Madonna's music: Mostly retreads of the latest scene. She is not a very good singer. I hear her stage performances are great but I think the dancers and costumes around her (much like the musicians and producers that she works with) make her look better than she really is. Madonna has excelled at extending her fame and amassing a fortune with very little talent. She has smart business sense.

Here's a link to the REAL Kabala, the legendary Kapetapekan race car driver.

But is not Borderline the greatest video of all time? Can't stand Material Gril though.

I don't know anything about tonight's shoes but dug the white outfit she sported at Live 8. Mariah (Mimi?) playing with that kid was the highlight of the few highlights I witnessed. Oh, and Gweneth with her hearing protected tot was kind of a weird image. I think she was bronzed with that fake tanner--looked kinda orange to me.

Nearly all of her lyrics are ridiculous, but she can whip up some tuneage. A few of them I actually like - Ray Of Light, Live To Tell, Oh Father and a few more.

Her perseverence warrants this type of discussion, but her music?

Some decent singles.
But she is a marketing creation, plain and simple.
The thing that makes her anything special is that she is her own marketing creation.

I've always loved 80s pop, like konstantinl, I grew up with it, so I've got her Immaculate Collection. I like her early singles like Holiday and some of her later stuff like Deeper and Deeper. I've never cared for hystrionics, but I can't let that interfere with the music she's put out that I enjoy because I'd have to punish the other assholes in my music collection just as harshly.

She annoys me yet her marketing acumen intrigues me at the same time. I don't have much opinion on her music, but its hard to deny it bringing you back to a certain age for my generation. I liked the fact that at one point in her career she really promoted sexuality breaking down commercail taboos; not that she singlehandedly did this, that she did not, but her timing was impeccable to influence a new generation growing up without fear of victorian/puritan reprisal. I hate the fact that she has withdrawn from that sensuality in a way, She's older and religious now.

A handful of her songs I can live with. She gets respect from me.

Way better than the Spears persona any day.

As a human being, I think she's disgusting. As a woman, I think she is disgusting. As an "artist," I think she is . . . lame.

But I'd rather look at Spears any day.

I never understood the attraction of that Spears woman. She's so average looking to me.

I've always thought she was kind of homely myself. I think people initially reacted to that 17 year old school girl schtick. It got paired forever because the songs were pretty mediocre, even for pop, which admittedly has a pretty low bar.

Nah, as much as I hate Madonna(just go see the Glorious Noise board, I'm in the same discussion last couple days) I think she's more polished and has better features then Spears. Spears is NOT a pretty girl. She was for about two years and can't dress down without looking trashy. I'll give Madonna this, in a t-shirt and jeans and little makeup she does look good.

But, I only liked her in the early-mid 80's then she lost her appeal to me. I think she's fucking nuts these days and the way she runs her household is akin to a nazi camp and her kids are gonna rebel something awful someday.

Oh yeah and with her Kabballah obsession and how pushy she is about it with the media she rates up there with Cruise on the killing-the-career meter.

It's the huge knockers, and the belief from her body language that she would take it off for the right amount of money.

Those are far from huge. She's got some creative applications of Wonderbras and padding, that's all.
