J Mascis, Radiohead, Old 97s, Bob Dylan. I'm sure there are more but those are off the top of my head.

Bands I've bought records by this year which I liked and who are long term favourites...

Mogwai - about 10 years now since 'Young Team'.
Broken Family Band - squeeze in here. First album came out in 2000.
Boards of Canada - Music Has The Right... 1998!
Laura Cantrell - another that squeezes in. 'Not The Tremblin Kind came out in 2000'.
Teenage Fanclub - 15 years a fan.

Jay Z (dudes done more in retirement than most do in their career)
Nas (while shakey at times, he's still interesting and good for an awesome song or two)
Cam'ron (another who keeps getting better and better)

I'll go with ten years. Even still, some of my top ten artists qualify:

Belle And Sebastian
Eels
The Lowest of The Low
The Flaming Lips
Lisa Loeb
The Magnetic Fields
Morrissey

Kinda funny. There's lots of bands that I like their stuff from 5 years ago, but don't really now, and most of them are listed.

Just some off the cuff, but "too many to list" comes to mind:

Buckethead
Stereolab
Kraftwerk
Gary Numan
Golden Earring
New Model Army
Porcupine Tree
