I may not agree with him on... anything.
But I do respect John Danforth (R - MO, Ret.) for actually thinking about the good of the COUNTRY in this time of "party first/us vs. them" politics.

Again, I disagree with the man on virtually every major issue except one, the good of the country should come before the good of any special interests. Gives me some hope.

EDIT: And I have heard him interviewed on NPR before, too. And the man strikes me as very sincere. This is not a totally new revelation, but is still one I think is worth bringing up.

I'm glad he and others like Colin Powell and Lawrence Wilkerson have been critical of this administration and the Republican Party, but it seems like most of these people have been painted as disgruntled outsiders who are mad they were pushed from power or became a liability to the party.

I know Senator Hagel here in Nebraska has been critcized by alot of local GOP members for being too critical of Bush in an effort to make a name for himself by 2008. They think he should join Ben Nelson in the Democratic Party.

I've noticed that you can easily identify reasonable Republicans by looking at how they voted on importing Canadian prescription drugs. It's a very simple issue, yet it says a lot about a candidate. Look at how Spector and McCain voted on the issue versus Santorum and Brownback.

I'm Leftist McGee over here, but even I can see that not everyone on the right is totally evil, just most of them! :P
