the acting in the first one was atrocious, but it was a great story...just poorly executed.

i like one of the reviews i read of this new one. paraphrased: 8 strangers picked to live in the same house...like mtv's real world, but a lot more interesting.

I liked (not loved) the first one. Acting was terrible, but the concept was way cool and the ending was superb

I'll end up seeing it sometime next week probably. The first one I found to be more infuriatingly tense than anything, but yeah, good stuff.

Yeah, I was pretty pissed off by the ending. "Oh, it was that dude? Well, who gives a shit?"

I thought the movie started heading downhill as soon as it left the room where it started, went into flashbacks and stuff, and Danny Glover entered the picture. It started off as a good idea that couldn't quite carry a whole movie and then tried to make up for it by throwing in a bunch of shit that totally didn't matter in the end. We might have cared that the dead guy on the floor was behind the whole thing if more (or all) of the movie had just taken place in that one room.

I actually thought it was a decent ending. Better than that Fight-Club bullshit in High Tension.

the only thing that sucked about the first one was cary elwes' acting. well, i didn't care for danny glover either.

cary elwes and danny glover are the only thing that sucked about the first one. the premise was freaking awesome.

and i just got home from seeing the second one.....and, it was DEFINITELY worth my money. and i liked it a lot more than the first one.
it was pretty gory. but ... like much of society, i'm immune to that these days, i think.

I wasn't even dissappointed with Cary Elwes' acting (even though I'll always best remember him as Wesley in Princess Bride). I just don't have high standards for these movies, and rarely even watch them. Show me some grizzly disturbing tension filled scenes for the greater portion of an hour and a half - and I'm pretty much satisfied. The ending didn't piss me off either. I didn't expect to find out that Jigsaw was laying on the floor the whole time. It wasn't necessarily clever, but it wasn't so far fetched to where it was insulting.

I will see the 2nd one eventually.

This whole Saw thing has given a second wind to Shawnee Smith's career that's for sure.
