Just when I was starting to think those "Do Ya?" Monster.com commercials about employers looking to hand you your dream job were completely full of shit, lo and behold, it happened to me...

Early last week I received a completely random and unsolicited call on my cell phone from a lady claiming to have seen my resume on Monster.com, and wanting me to come in for a job interview. At first, I figured it was one of those bogus fly-by-night operations which use Monster.com to prey on the simple-minded and otherwise unemployable with ridiculously too-good-to-be-true offers. I somewhat reluctantly agreed to the interview and immediately went to the company's website to do a little advance recon.

The results of my online investigation showed promise, but were inconclusive, so I would have to wait until the interview to find out just how legit their operation was. Last Friday I met with the lady who called me, their Sr. VP of HR, and not only did she really impress me but so did their digs. Only truly successful companies can plunk down this kind of dough on their facilities, unless they're a super-cocky doomed-to-fail dot com enterprise. This company is not a dot com, so all signs point to yes.

Then the other day, she calls me back to come in on Friday (this morning) to meet with the CEO. OK, now I'm pretty damn impressed, and have gone all the way from the skeptical end of the spectrum to the coveting with lecherous drool end of the spectrum. I HAD to get this job!!!

Well, in addition to the interview with the CEO, they put me through a battery of tests (Wonderlic, etc.) to make sure I wasn't a complete tard. Fortunately, I'm only partial, because they called me back late this afternoon and offered me the gig at a 20% base salary increase over my current job + a quarterly bonus plan! Cha-fucking-ching!!!

So, I start on 11/14, at which time my weekday posting frequency may completely evaporate...at least for the time being. I'll still check up on things on weekends and the occasional weeknight, but you may not see as much of me as you've grown accustomed to over the years. However, there is the potential for periodic travel, so there just might be an FT WORLD TOUR '06...

This may work, Snyder should've been drowned young, can't hate on Joe Gibbs, though. They'd never've needed to recall him if they hadn't screwed up Marty with that whole Spurrier debacle. Set the franchise back eight years with that one.

can you tell us who youre going to be working for?

It's a locally-based concern nobody's ever heard of before. Only about 500 employees nationwide right now. As much as I'd like to give specifics, in the wake of Squirggate, I think I'll play it safe for the time being. It may be too late for Kyle to get his job back, but it's not too late for the rest of us to learn from his unfortunate experience.

Congratulations!! Truly awesome news! So, whatcha gonna be doing, Bob? And we'll have to hit up In-n-Out again when you come west.

Still corporate training, but this time I'm getting to start the entire department from the ground up. I'm not yet sure where all the new branch locations will be throughout the U.S., but when I find out and know when I'll be traveling to them to do my thang, I will be sure to alert the area Obnerds.
