DirecTV is dropping their Music Choice (MC) music channels (800-860) for XM radio music channels on Nov. 15 2005. I think this is only a good thing but expect FOX to raise prices yet again.

The best thing about this is that I will be able to listen to Giants baseball radio broadcast with Jon Miller for free starting next year.

So the Indie station is called XMU and the (I’m sure bad) Alternative station is called Lucy.

So who here has XM Satellite Radio? Can you give me a review and tell me what you dig most about it?

XMU, Music Lab, Deep Trax, and Major League Baseball are the best things goin' for XM right now. I'll listen to some of the comedy stations every now and then. And they do a pretty good job of covering live music (old and new concerts, acoustic in studio stuff, etc).

Busty (and maybe the Cap'n) is a long time subscriber.

I've heard it mainly because the bar I used to work at/drink at alot has it...there are some pretty good stations to be sure.

Still debating on getting Sirius myself.

I think the only Music Choice channel on Comcast cable I've ever listened to with any regularity is the Americanna one and its consistently pretty awesome.

I don't think the baseball package is part of this. There's a baseball channel in there, but it's just baseball news & talk.

but I don't need satellite radio to hear .38 Special

My dad signed up for XM when they were having a buy one/get one on receivers. So he sent me one, and I used it to listen to games during the baseball season. I've never listened to any other station on it, unfortunately.

But I do have DirecTV, so maybe I'll start.

Figures, that was something I was looking forward to but not enough to pay 12.95 a month for. MLB League Pass comes out less than a dollar a game anyways and is better cause I like to watch. I did pay something like six dollars for the whole season of just Giants in 2004 through the Baseball Internet radio thingy but having both is a waste.
