I saw this over thanksgiving. I dug it. I just rented a whole bunch of anime on netflix. What's happening to me?

i seem to remember a few friends telling me that akira takes a few views to understand. that turned me off. you should try out the wings of honnemaise.

I saw it with a couple friends that filled me in whenever I didn't get it. What's wings of honnemaise about?

it's about a space-training program and how the prospective astronauts deal with the magnitude of what they're about to do, especially the politics of competing nations trying to make their way into space. there are multiple correlations between it and the US/USSR space race. i guess that doesn't sound too interesting, but it's really good anime. it focuses more on story/characters than action, even though there's enough of that.

no tentacle rape in Akira per se, but japanese seem to have a thing for putting this in anime
