Just saw a fun band Friday night called THE SUPERMEN. If you like masked musicians in costumes, fake blood, topless girls and rock 'n' roll, they're just about the perfect band.

Here's a link to a video of them to give you some idea where they're coming from..

http://www.stlscene.com/videoplayer.asp?FILE=data/files/6089/4892.wmv&BandID=6089&VideoID=4892

I think they're gonna be going around playing shows across the country, so if you see 'em coming to your town, you may wanna check it out. Just had a great time at a show and thought I'd mention it...

Ok, I just saw the video and there was nothing of redeeming value. Looked like a cheap version of "Girls Gone Wild". Music was nothing to speak of.

If it ain't your kinda thing...I can understand that, of course. The video is actually much heavier on the girls than the concert. They had like two chicks who danced in the background and occasionally came forward. The music isn't spectacular, true, but its solid, powerful punkish rock. Nothing groundbreaking and completely idiotic lyrics, but a fitting soundtrack for the entertainment.

Personally, I get tired of so many bands that think their music is so damn important that they can just show up in their t-shirts, stand there solemnly and play without making any attempt to engage the crowd beyond straight up playing. It was refreshing to see a band who understood the value of spectacle for entertainment's sake.

I think it helped that it was Halloween, which made watching people slamdance in costume pretty funny. Cowboys and pirates and shit flailing about in front of the stage helped greatly. Oh yeah....and some shit I hadn't injested in probably over five years flowing through my head probably didn't hurt either.
