Does anyone know who did the remake of this? Was it Orbital or maybe KLF?

Can you even get the original version somewhere???

Hmmm. I have KLF's "White Room" cd but that song isn't on it.

Does Doctorin' The Tardis sound like the orginal theme music version? Didn't Orbital do a version of this too?

More importantly: does anyone have it to download? I feel a strong urge to hear this right now and no, I'm not on acid.

It sounds like a mashup of the Dr. Who theme and Gary Glitter's Rock And Roll.

Here's the song.

Orbital also recently covered the original (not the mashup) live -- I suspect that is what you're thinking.

And no, I don't have it handy, sorry...

Dusty Bones is correct. Orbital did a fairly straight version of the Doctor Who theme.

As for getting a copy of the original version of the Doctor Who theme I'm 99.9% certain that it's on the Rough Trade Electronica album which you should be able to pick up fairly easily and which has a shit load of other great tracks.

Didn't Crystal Method also do a cover of the "Dr Who" song?

Careful, they switched themesongs at some point during the Tom Baker years, eschewing the orginal for an electronic version that blows chunks.

I've got "Genesis of the Daleks" on vinyl that I use when I have call for the Dr. Who theme.

This is the one you want. They used vacuum tubes and all sorts of antiquated stuff to crank this thing out in 1963. Song's as old as my car.

Orbital's version was also released on album. It's just called 'Doctor?' It's on 'The Altogether'.

And yeah, the BBC Radiophonic Workshop one is the original and best - by far.

Electronica cred -10

Orbital had done their live version for years & it made it's way onto many bootlegs so they got a lot of pressure to finally do an official version for proper release & decided to throw it on The Altogether. They also used to walk out on stage to "Title Music from a Clockwork Orange".

"Doctorin' The Tardis" reminds me of MARS FM

Yeah, but there's only one real one.

Alex Paterson used to use the Clockwork Orange soundtrack in The Orb's live shows, as well. He was using it for a couple of tours - going so far as using the main title themes near the beginning to the show, and 'Singing in the Rain' at the end of the show. This was from the UFOrb period until definitely the Orbus Terrarum period, though he may have stretched it into the Orblivion tour, I can't remember. In any case, he used it before Orbital. I would've thought Orbital would've steered clear of anything The Orb had already used. Obviously, I was wrong.

Anyone got the Orbital version?

The mashup song that Shiv posted (KLF?) wasn't the one I remembered. Maybe its the original I'm thinking of???

Okay, a friend on another message board posted this, it's the Orbital version:

I also got some fan remixes as well here:

The "Hard Wire" version is pretty cool and well done.

I have no idea why I'm so obsessed by this right now. Maybe I'm just looking for the orginal version. Where can you find that Rough Trade album?
