Cult US rockers lose bandmember
Low lose Zak Sally

Cult US indie band Low have parted company with their bassist Zak Sally.

The two remaining members of the band, Guitarist Alan Sparrowhawk and drummer Mimi Parker, have already found a replacement in Matt Livingston.

A statement from Sally on the band's official website reads: "I have left the band Low. While I wish the best for Alan and Mimi, I can no longer be a member of the band. I sincerely hope that someday we can sit in the basement and make music together, but for now, there are more important things than music. Or bands.

"On a personal level, I can't hope to express what the folks that have helped, supported, and listened during my 12 year tenure in Low have meant to me. This band has been my entire adult life, and I had a hell of a ride. Thanks for everything. Take care, all of you. I mean it. Maybe I'll see you around."

Low, whose latest album 'The Great Destroyer' came out earlier this year, play a show in Minneapolis on December 9. They will write new material and tour in 2006.

Sparrowhawk is such a great surname.

That would be pretty cool, but it's Sparhawk.

No, it's Sparrowhawk. It says so in the article.

This is not another not a good sign for Low. I guess it's been a tough year.

What else has happened besides them releasing a record you didn't like?

Alan Sparhawk succumbing to personal demons and cancelling their summer tour.

He said that this is a good sign for Low ("not another not a good sign"), but then said that this has been a tough year for Low. I'm questioning his use of a double negative.

I edited poorly. I deserve questioning. I meant to write "This is another not good sign for Low," knowing already that it was an awkward sentence.

I like how the last paragraph is typical adspeak. It's like the writer didn't even read what he was writing.
