...album? I'm really interested in hearing it or what anyine has to say about it. I'm a sucker for more straight-forward stuff in general so I'm eager to hear what Brenden O Brian got out of him.

Anyone?

Who have I come to hate more, Trey or Brendan?

More importantly, I haven't heard the new Mike G/Leo Kottke joint. The clips I've heard make me nervous.

Your hatred for Trey grows more every day.

Amusing as hell.

Have both, have not listened to them yet, but I'll bump them up the priority list so that I can report back to y'all.

As for me, my hatred of Brendan is well documented.

Shit, fuck. I hate posting images almost as much as I do Trey, or Brendan, or Trey and Brendan.

I think what our Ish meant to do was:

Which is exactly how I feel about horizontal scrolling.

I haven't been a fan of any of the solo Trey stuff, beyond One Man's Trash. That being said, the new Trey album was described as such by my wife: "It sounds like Trey is trying to win a NICK Kid's Choice Award."

Straight-ahead is one thing, this is a whole 'nother dimension of bland.

The second Kottke-Gordon album, however, is decent. Not as great as the first disc, but still pretty decent.

I'm curious about it too, and found that VH1 is previewing the whole thing on their site here. Sounds pretty damn okay to me.

I guess he performed new material when I saw him with the Rolling Stones, but i'll say it wasn't memorable at all because, well I just can't remember what any of it sounded like.

I like Phish, that's it.

as much as i love phish, i can't stand 99% of trey's solo stuff.
i haven't even bothered with this album. and it's not likely that i will.

First couple of tracks are a little bland, but it gets better as you get deeper into the album. "Come as Melody" is very nice, as is "Wherever You Find It." If you're looking for jammy-Phish type content, however, look elsewhere. This is pure pop.

Provided Sony doesn't put out defective (read: copy-protected) discs, I'll probably pick this up tomorrow. Anyone know for sure? I can't find any info on if this one escaped Sony's copy-protection scam.

good lord, the first tune "shine" could possibly be worse than that shit tune "connection". i really hope this gets better quick. i'm afraid this will complete the transformation to sub-par barenaked ladies crap-ola for trey.

That's because he sabotaged them.

I couldn't access the stream, sadly, because I would like to know what I'm talking about when I talk such heavy-handed shit.

He said I come from the land of darkness
I said I come from the land of doom
He said I come from the land of Gamehendge
From the land of the big baboon
But I'm never never going back there
And I couldn't if I tried
'Cause I come from the land of Lizards
And the Lizards they have died
And the Lizards they have died
And the Lizards they have died
And the Lizards they have died

Epic. Though, I just did a little jig thinking about that song.

you must admit though, the band that wrote "connection" is not the same band that wrote "divided sky" or "reba".
i guess if you can seperate the two, then maybe "connection" comes across as a decent pop tune, along the lines of barnaked ladies (which it really does remind me of).
personally, i can't seperate the two and thus, it is utter garbage.

Are you mocking the great and knowledgable?

I agree with 'stone: "The Connection" cannot be excused. Nor can any of the lyrics Trey has written since "Farmhouse". They are clusterfuck, alas.

No seperation necessary for me. Even though I saw 50+ shows, I will always love the poppier side of Phish and even the dreaded Phish studio albums that I love and listen to more than my boots. I mean the first Phish song that really grabbed me was "Lawn Boy". "Brian and Robert" and "Water In The Sky" are two of my favorite songs and Picture of Nectar and Story of the Ghost are my two favorite studio albums.

We can agree to disagree on later Phish (I personally thought Round Room, with the exception of "Mexican Cousin" was utter Gar) but IMHO "Connection", "Crowd Control" and "Nothing off of Undermind are all HOT tracks.

Not to say I'm not own for hippie shaking to an epic Bowie or Hood; its all relative and all good. I'm just mainly guilty of being an unabashed Phish fan.

Somebody please tell me those lyrics are supposed to be godawful. Or do all Phish fans have a secret Uriah Heep tattoo somewhere on their body?

Yeah, sometimes you have to suspend rational thinking in these matters, especially on their fairy-tale shit.
