I heard it in a shoe shop of all places.

It was kind of poppy/hip-hop with a female vocalist and then an other female rapper later on. It was kind of 'choppy' and had a clipped guitar that kind of sounded like a car horn. The only lyrics I heard were something about 'you keep me trippin'. It sounded like it was probably a recent hit.

Now doubt it will turn out to be something embarrasing like Mariah Carey but I don't care I'm putting it out there cos I liked it.

Wondering if it is not Humps, by Black Eyed Peas.

Hope not, as it is #1 on my worst songs of the year.

The chorus is, 'she's got me spending....spending all your money on me....'

I showed the lyrics to our cheerleader sponsor (who was resposible for that crap being played at the pep rally). She turned very pale. Didn't say much.

Did you demand she call you "Mr. Chick-O-Stik" from now on?

Hmm, Amerie says "trippin" a whole lot in "1 thing" and there is a version with Eve. But no car horn guitars.

I absolutely refuse, under any circumstances, to be her Mr. Chick-O-Stick. There are a few others, though.

Well I've managed to identify it with the help of Google.

Amerie (featuring Eve) '1 Thing'

You can hear a little bit of it here http://www.amerie.net/site.html

I think it's pretty corking. Not to sure about some of the other tracks though.

EDIT - KPH got it.

Not trying to uphold my "indie cred" but I rarely like anything on MTV or radio (not since mid-80s anyways) but I have heard this song and quite like it. In fact, it is on regular rotation at my aerobics class and of all the stupid music they play there it is one that I'm actually glad when the music cues for that--we do all these stupid hip-hop moves to it (which is quite amusing because at least half of the class looks really spastic when doing the moves).

I remember experiencing physical pain when hearing this song, also at a shoe store.

This song blows.

Okay, you bastards. You reeled me in and now I'm curious to hear this song too.

Anyone have the original to YSI it?

Here's Elbow covering it, so you don't have to feel like a gay for liking it. Tell me if it's not cool to post the link like that.

also, the link doesnt work - you should post it within 'code' tags so it doesnt link directly - like so

Code:
http://s52.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2JUFFA4P0IZMH305VOPC0AVJHM

, cos sometimes YSI deletes the links
