I think The Stones are okay but it is a fact that their best years have been behind them for oh say, twenty years now. Everyone, please stop telling me that their latest work is genius, mmmkay?

I think I'm the only one actively hyping them so that must be directed at me. At least I made #1.

I can't contribute to this thread otherwise, because I've learned to not heed what most of you recommend anyway.

That's pretty much how I've been with The National. In any case, I'm surprised to see that it didn't make the list.

Also, I've only seen one thread/mention on Spank Rock.

HAHHA, but you can still ENJOY their older work, and go to the shows and whoop and marvel at the fact that dudes like Blondie Chaplain play with them...

And I don't see what I do as hyping them, just helping you all realize that they are the greatest Rock and Roll Band to ever exist in any incarnation, and that no one gets within 100 feet of that.

I'm just curious as to who here hypes these artists? And as far as the Stones, can you really "hype" a freakin' institution?

BTW, I know PopTodd has spread the word on Shrimp Boat and CemetaryPolka(?) Tom Waits, but I don't know I'd even call it hype. They like 'em. End of story.

At the risk of destroying any rep I might have as an old curmudgeon, I haven't noticed anybody incessantly hyping any bands in recent months...

(...well, with the exception of Pop Todd and BeeOK and their respective Obsessions with Shrimpboat and the Boo Radleys, but I think we all accept those as merely part of their individual quirks)

No one pays enough attention to the bands I hype to get annoyed about it.
