SALVATION: OXFORD NOVEMBER 11, 1992 - Legendary two hour unedited performance

More than 10 years after his death, Bill Hicks’ brand of radical, thought provoking, biting comedy has seeped into America’s consciousness. Following his best selling DVD, Bill Hicks Live, Salvation captures a legendary performance at Oxford University recorded in 1992. This 2-CD set showcases Bill Hicks at the height of his comedic powers. Nearly two hours long and unedited, Salvation is pure, raw Bill Hicks!

"Hicks displays a rare gift of extracting informed humor from randomly assembled streams of bemused observation." - NME

2 Disc Set at a low price! Street Date: 11/08/05

I went and saw Jem tonight. She dedicated a song to Bill Hicks, she said she wrote it based on a line from him, "life is just a ride".

I think I like it. When someone's cynicism outreaches even my own it somehow makes me feel better.

Also, this tends to happen when you are a critics darling and you plug away for years and never really reach that huge mainstream success even when it was deserved.

His bit about Reagan, Bush, and Barb Bush standing over Rush Limbaugh pissing on him is pure genius.

RIP

If I recall my Hickstory ( geh ) correctly, as "out there" as some of his last stuff was ( like Derris hints, just put on "Rant In E Minor" fer Gawdsakes ) he actually died fairly at peace. At a certain point he even stopped speaking to people, saying "I've said all I have to say".

I think this upcoming release may just be a US version of a UK release called "Shock And Awe"...it'd be nice to get it at non-import price, as it's the only official Hicks release missing from my collection ( aside from the best-of "Philosophy" , which I didn't buy because I already have all the material ) .

I didn't get to say much. There was this drunk fratboy type in front of me who was screaming incoherently through most of the concert, including the slow numbers.

Jem: "I wrote this next song for a friend of mine who passed away."
DFbT: "Yeah! Dude! You rock!"

This will be released tommorrow and anyone with even a passing interest in Hicks would probably enjoy it:
