Totally useless.

I was going to try and get a free year's subscription to The Wall St. Journal in exchange for some miles until I noticed that the magazine offer is only good within the continental U.S.. Bastards.

Maybe I can sell them on EBay?

Friends of mine flew to Australia, first class both ways, after realizing due to computer error they had a million miles. American realized the mistake & took the miles away but let them keep the tix.

Damn, your friends lucked out! But, they were dumb too, cuz I would've booked an open ticket to travel around-the-world.

Hey, Rami, I'll take your FF miles if you don't want 'em. :)

She tried to go back & book a bunch of more trips but the system had caught up by then.

Are 21,000 miles good for anything?

I am clueless about this stuff.

You usually need at least 26,000

Yeah.

I didn't know you could transfer them though...and don't they expire if you don't use them after a length of time too?

Depends on the airline. Most don't allow them to expire these days due to competition from other airlines.

If I had tickets to go anywhere I wanted for free, I'd go to Finland to feed the hungry and clothe the naked.

I've got thousands of miles scattered across United, US Air, Continental, NWA and American. Though, Continental is the one that has a free ticket for me at the moment. I'm trying to bump it up to a free Euro ticket.

Waste of miles. Europe fares are sooooo cheap, you're better off using them to skirt the restrictions on a more expensive domestic ticket.

Miles are generally *not* transferrable, the only exception I know is if you donate them through one of the airline's sponsored charities (the Red Cross and United Way are the biggies).

Euro fares are cheap if you live on the east coast. Shit, if I lived on the east coast, I'd hop overseas every month!

I'm going next week and I got a good deal out of Atlanta going to Amsterdam for six hundy round trip but it's in November. Same ticket in summer is around $1100. Yikes.

I've got around 35K in skymiles. After this trip I'll be over 40K. I get a free trip to Europe at 50K. I too will be going to Italy. I could get a free US trip now if I wanted.

If you use Delta here's a deal you can get if you're close to a free trip. If you sign up for an American Express Skymiles card and use it once you automatically get 10,000 free miles. Not a bad deal.

i've got something like 9,432 at the moment, but i just used a free ticket not too long ago. After my trip to SE Asia, I should have about 20K more.

my dad flies all the time for work, and usually goes for the routes/times with the most mile potential, so he is the go-to guy for free tickets.
