My boss handed me a $20 gift card from Starbucks and told me to buy a coffee and then pass the card along to the next person.

I'm thinking, the heck with that- I'll buy a CD with it, and we'll have something lasting instead of a sugar/caffeine rush that'll only last a few hours.

There's only 4 people that work there, and I figure if I get something mellow enough, we'll all enjoy it.

So, I'll probably catch hell for it, buttfuckit.

Got any recs?

I think they usually have mixes, and ocassionally featured artist like Ray Charles, but I have no idea who they're pedling now. I do remember seeing Yo La Tengo's And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out a few years back.

I bought my lady a copy of the "Sweethearts" comp for Valentine's Day this year. It's pretty good... Neko Case, M. Ward, Calexico, etc. do some decent covers.

I think we have an early front runner in the most likely to be squirrgelled category.

I wouldn't do that, but if you're going to I can endorse "I Believe to My Soul"

Joe Henry produced tracks by Irma Thomas, Allen Toussaint, Ann Peebles, Mavis Staples, & Billy Preston

$10 of the purchase price goes to the Red Cross.

I've heard there's some good stuff on some of 'em. There was an exclusive track on one of 'em by a band I like or sumpin. I don't remember.

Good call, too (on the music >> caffeine + sugar).
