The Disconnection. Anyone else besides me heard this one? Really snuck up on me outta nowhere and I completely adore it. Picked it up a few months ago after hearing the single. It's the second album from this English girl and she knows how to rock, kind of like early PJ Harvey circa Dry, especially on the single "Into My Blood". But also with traces of a cabaret style and jazz at times, a little along the lines of what I've heard from the Dresden Dolls. Maybe a touch of Fiona Apple in the middle section of the CD too. "Sit Tight" is a 6 1/2 minute stunner that comes close to the end. Beautiful song with lots of emotion and drama, building to a big, noisy ending. But mostly just solid, passionate rock. I've been listening to this alot. I posted about it in the NP thread once before but just thought I'd drag it around one more time before the end of the year since it'll probably wind up close to my top 10 and I was just listening to it again this morning.....

I too really like this album. I also posted about it several months ago on the old board, with little to no reaction. I think I got one response---chase didn't like it, if I remember correctly. It will be in my shmoo top 20 as well.

Yeah, funny this one doesn't get much attention, especially since it's on Interscope and being hawked at under $10 locally - you can even get it for about $7 online. Might be a little too much of the conventional "alternative" sound for many people, I guess. Not quite as raw overall as early PJ Harvey, except in spots. Glad I found it, though.

So what else ya got shaking in your top 10 this year? Have you posted anything yet?
