B-Rod should immediately give it back after his hysterical playoff performance. But, individual awards are all that pudwhacker is interested in anyway.

voting is done prior to the playoffs.

I know this, but even Trump knows 75% of his numbers come in 10 run games. Jeter is much more valuable to the Yanks and baseball as a whole.

There has been a tremendous amoutn of press saying how A-Rod wasnt the most valuable player on the team this year... (Mariano was, and possibly Jeter or even Matsui)....

but regardless, the voting usually comes down to who puts up the biggest numbers.

Im gonna dig it up, but everyone put Ortiz on top due to his late inning heroics, which I admit have been Jordan-esque...but A-Rods 7-9th inning at bats this season havent been to shabby either....

voting could have gone either way...for me this was more of a yanks vs. redsox thing.....

as for the 75% of his numbers ocming in 10 run games, show me any kind of stat backing that up. otherwise, sour grapes.

Not White Sox fans. :P

(nor Reds fans) ;)

Edit: I think he deserved it a tiny bit more because he played on the field.

No sweat, but I just busted out laughing when I figured it out. It was even better because there was a woman in here talking with my officemate.

I have him on my FBL team every year... he puts up good numbers once every 2 weeks. It's maddening!

Everyone quotes that 7-9th inning at bats to claim Ortiz was more clutch but espn's comparison with a few weeks in the season showed that A-Rod had 1 more game winning rbi than Ortiz did at the time and A-Rod's numbers when the game was close (up or down by a run or less) were great. Don't know where they ended up at year end but I'm sure it was close.

fine whateer you say.. he's overrated... baseball writers, players, and fans around the world who have regarded him as one of the premiere players of our generation, seem to have been fooled into thinking he is a tremendous ball player, cause of your FBL team analysis.

our bad! :D

still say its sour grapes. lol

He's also the most selfish and least respectful ball player of our generation. There's a reason he's never won a ring and most likely, never will.

I have nothing to be sour over... my team won the WS this year.

the only thing i have to add in argument of ortiz for mvp is that if he wasn't in our lineup, everyone would've pitched around manny and we probably wouldn't have even made the playoffs.

from mlb.com

In 78 such late game (7th-9th inning) at-bats, Ortiz hit .346 (27-for-78) with 11 home runs, 33 RBIs and a .447 on-base percentage. But A-Rod posted respectable numbers in those situations, too, hitting .293 (22-for-75) with four home runs, 12 RBIs and a .418 on-base percentage.

Clearly, Ortiz had the better numbers in the situation....no doubt about it.

but A-Rod's .293 is no slouch. He didnt actually UNDER perform either.

throw on the fact that A-Rod played the field (and really WELL i may add), and you have the correct voting results in the AL voting....

If Thomas didn't win MVP in 2000, then Ortiz had no chance this year. They just won't give a DH MVP... and to some extent, I agree with that.
