The Sigur Rós rekkids in a meager attempt to piece together last night's set list. Realized through this exercise I don't know the non-() stuff as well as I should. Great, great show.

I saw them in at the Carling Academy in Birmingham. The original tour listing didn't have a London date on there, and I didn't want to wait on it. It was a bit of a hassle getting up there, but it worked out perfectly. The venue was half the size of Brixton Academy (where they are apparently playing on Wednesday?), and one of my good friends who joined me is only free Mondays and Thursdays because of school.

i could tell by the weather that today wouldn't be fun. and that's certainly been confirmed since i've been at work. i was prepared for it, though.

Hey, Colin.

I saw the Sigur Ros boys a month after they'd released their debut "AB" and I was completely mesmerized. The hopelandic and the bow on the electric guitar added to the showmanship.
Did the lead singer make any eye-contact with the audience? And were there any visuals to speak of?

Reason I ask: the lead a few years back, only stared at his foot pedals and it was a fairly stripped-down affair, visually. Great show, though.

Cheers,

Bill

Yes, they had visuals, and they were fantastic. Glosoli and the encore were done with a white drop curtain pulled in front of the band, adding a lot of to the atmosphere. Arty-film-stuff was projected on the back screen throughout as well. Jonsi only raised his head to sing, and sometimes he didn't even do that. No talking between songs... a lot of bits from "Ba Ba Ti Ki Di Do" were playing inbetween, in fact.

Great fun trying to play spot-the-sample. There's already one that I recognize, but can't name.

Madeleine Peyroux, Careless Love -- beauteous.
Tiefschwarz, Eat Books -- fantastic synthpop, gets better with every listen.
Espers, Weed Tree -- cool cover of Blue Oyster Cult tune, the rest is bordering on boring.
