WE NEED TO IMPLEMENT THE WAIVER WIRE NEXT YEAR.

This crap about picking up someone instantly is crap. In another league, I just went in and cleaned house because there is no waiver wire. Ours is all cleaned out. I feel like I ripped everyone off in the other league by being first one to the internet after the stats were posted. I feel cheated in this league because everyone is gone. Isn't there usually a 24 hour waiver period to give everyone a fair chance at bolstering their team off the heap?

Just think of it as karmic balance.

My understanding is that yahoo's waiver wire only affects players who have been released. Free agents are free agents. Unless yahoo changes their setup (or my understanding is incorrect), we'd have to use another system. Plus, yahoo's waiver wire is based on waiver acquisitions and draft order (when it should favor worse teams).

but i am in a free yahoo league where I must wait 24 hours before my waiver claim is official because someone lower on the wire can steal him from me, and I think it is based on worst team gets first dibs.

Like Sketch said, the waiver pickups (i.e. players that were recently dropped from someone's team) do have a waiting period in our league, and are given in a specific order based on W/L record. Players that have never been on a team, or have passed through waivers without being picked up are available for anyone at any time.

One change we could make for next year is to limit the # of add/drop transactions allowed in a season to prevent the waiver wire vultures like bitterbuffalo and myself from adding and dropping players rampantly.

Haha.
There should be a system for the waiver wire for the free agents...

Are there any other free leagues out there? I think www.cbs.sportsline.com might have a free league. I am in a pay league there, and it's pretty darn good.

I don't think the number of transactions has been a problem in our league at all. Actually, I think the league setup is great. I can't remember a league where so many teams have a shot to win.

I'd be in favor of weekly moves using waivers for FA pickups, but I hate caps on the number of transactions. I always get stuck with injured guys I can't replace.

I tend to agree with this. When the league is this size, it's very hard to keep the same team in week-to-week and expect to win. That's why I have so many moves. My bench is full of guys that might play if the person they're backing up gets hurt. I'm not jumping on guys Sunday night or anything either, I read player news throughout the week and if there's someone I think might get some playing time, I'll pick him up.
