I've been using a Sharpie Extra Fine Point, but it's too sharp, and it tends to dry out too fast.

A regular Sharpie is too blunt (maybe mine's too old?).

Suggestions, please?

Thanks,

fp

I have had the same problem. I have sliced the tip of a regular sharpie to get an edge in between. I learned that trick in art studio.

Yeah. (A) Your Sharpie is probably too old, and (B) it comes in a finer point than medium. Try 'ultra'.

I have a Stabilo Write-4-All.

I'm guessing I write more on CD's than you do.

Also, I believe TDK has a pen that's specifically for writing on CD-R's. I think it's supposed to have less acid in the ink or something.

Or you could just get one of those engraving CD-R's. I know I want one.

I use a CD-specific one made by Fellows (I think. I'll check at home). "They" say that over the long term using a regular pen will eat thru the CD.

They = I read it in some magazine somewheres at some point. More trusty than the internets, at least.

I'm surprised more people aren't using something like this. No probs for me yet on old CDs that I used a reg pen on, but better safe than sorry. Would hate for all of my CDs to start degrading at the 10 year mark or so.

I suppose I'm not the only one who wondered how one would write on a CD with a penis and how one would then rank the quality of said wordsmithery.

Yeah but once the CD player was going for awhile and got warmed up, there'd be a mess what with the "ink" becoming gelatinous once more.

Also use the Sharpie Ultra Fine Point; I try to write as small and neatly as possible while still being legible. Lots of people think my cd labeling is typed or printed out.
