came back to the house to drop off a bill in the mailbox since my jobsite was nearby, got back in car and no crank

Now I'm just waiting for AAA. Good thing I was at home and the mechanic is about half a mile away. 1.5 hours to cocktails. For being pissed off 2 hours ago, I'm kinda happy now since it killed my Friday early and had nothing to do but drive another 40 miles to look at properties.

If it went from Fine to Dead that fast, you either left the lights on, or your starter just took a shit on you.

We'll find out when AAA shows up :)

Had to pop the hood and crank the choke closed the other night. Also gotta swap the thermostat this weekend.

This would be the mustang, then. How's she do in cold weather? Vapor lock yet?

I'm not an auto mechanic, and I don't even play one on the internets, but in this day and age, what the hell kind of car do you drive that has a choke, much less a hand-cranked one?

If memory serves, it's a badass 69/70-era mustang. No fuel injection, just carbs.

This is on the Fairlane, little Autolite 2100 2bbl carb.

Mustang's in the final stages of the crate install. I just got my 750cfm Speed Demon, no choke yet. Have to see if it'll all fit under the hood with a drop-base air cleaner. If it doesn't, then the choke goes on with a K&N assembly.

Fuck that, get a reverse-cowl and a cold air kit. Don't half-ass it, dammit.

Nope, I'm trying to keep the original hood. If it doesn't fit, we're cutting it under the scoop, which then becomes functional.

Saw one of these hacked onto a POS the other day and it was so big that I don't think the guy could see out to the right side in front of the hood! IDIOT! I think he was still sporting a mullet.

See also 'anthropomorphisation' -- said endowment ('the attributing of human qualities to anything non-human', such as a smile on a dog).

Oh, and I have commas. All the time.
...^--- Right here, for example. Hey, look! There's another one. And another.

AAA will now check & replace your battery on the spot if you need one. I found out the hard way after having to call them 2x one morning and having the car towed to a garage. All uneeded. Coulda saved about $50, I think.

Check a mag like Consumer Reports before buying a Sears battery. The DieHard got poor ratings last time I checked.

my car tends to go into a coma all the time. last night when trying to meet up with some friends after the spoon show, i didn't want to pay for parking so i tried to leave the parking lot and my car wasn't starting. apparently i have a kill switch installed through the cruise control and my friend did a shitty job on the wiring so sometimes it will take a crap on me.

but then again, i have bad luck with cars in general.

You're welcome.

They don't say on the website ( http://www.csaa.com/global/articledetai ... 30,00.html ), all they say is, "In addition, AAA installs only fresh, high-quality batteries that meet manufacturer's specifications for your vehicle. Fresh batteries are batteries kept in stock no longer than 90 days."

If that link doesn't work, you may have to enter your zip first.

They don't have the battery service in all areas, fyi.
