well, thats what happened at the broken social scene last night. the first three songs were awful, not because of the band, but because the sound in the place was so bad, i considered leaving right then. keep in mind, this is the same place i saw death from above 1979 and they ended up sounding like kyuss. but im glad now that i didnt leave, because they ended up playing a really good show. they ended up playing a lot of stuff of their first album, but i dont think that was the normal setlist since they changed some stuff around because of the sound. near the end, the lead singer (his name escapes me right now) came out into the crowd and hugged a bunch of people, me included. they also came out and played an encore, playing gratitude (yes, the beastie boys song), i'll bring the sun by jason collett and ended with its all gonna break. it definately turned out to one of the best shows ive been to.

I saw the Warlocks last month. It was a bland and contrived performance (or their music is simply plain and stale). I left, and then apparently the show got good. Some drunk French dude got on stage, grabbed the mic, started singing, really well, apparently, and then got in the middle of a tug of war with the sound man and the guitarist, and took a huge spill. Yeah!

Afghan Whigs' "Black Love" record release secret show. Super-over-packed, and the PA keeps popping at the first song. I thought the place was going to be burned down, what with the tension and conditions. Somebody fixed something, and the thing was beautiful.
