i don't remember them receiving the highest of praise in reviews but i believe that the post-pavement albums of a one mr. s. stairs were/have been perfectly deserving of recognition.

just something i was thinking about earlier.

I have the first one and I don't think I even ever listened to it.

I like them. It seems like Pavement fans are a fickle bunch as neither PSoI nor Malkmus' albums seem to get much love from people. It seems like they are put out and then they are forgotten. For me, I've dug all the post-Pavement diddities that were released. S. Stairs is someone who really interests me when his stuff is released.

I saw PSOI open for Wilco a few years back. It was when Tweedy decided to do sort of a shoegazer show... at the Riviera Theatre in Chicago that holds a LOT of people... not exactly the best place for a low key show. Anyway, PSOI blew Wilco away (in my opinion - I'm sure there are people who enjoyed that show, but I love rockin' Wilco, not quiet Wilco) and I've been a faithful PSOI fan ever since. Monsoon is excellent.

I agree Monsoon is a damn fine record. I think it definitely, at least to me, got S Stairs from out of Steve's shadow.

I like 'em - listened to "All This Sounds Gas" at work today, actually.
