I like some of his songs, stuff from that US comp 'The Ego Has Landed', but I can't believe he's so immensely popular in the UK. I don't get the phenom.

i read an interview where he said it was all because of the live show. and he just doesn't care about breaking in the US enough to put on a big tour here. oh well... but i still like his music a lot.

No doubt, although I'm not crazy about the current choice either. I think he would make a great Brit Robert Downey, Jr. though. He's actually pretty funny in a lot of the interviews I've seen him do, and he was friggin' hilarious on the MTV Cribs he did eons ago, right down to him miming how how he does the ladies doggiestyle on his bed.

Robbie's Live 8 performance was pretty great. Dude invoked Freddie Mercury something fierce. One of the reasons he's not as big over here is because the preceding boy band (Take That) didn't take off over here. It's like Justin trying to suceed in a country that didn't care about N-Sync.

That's easy! He is intelligent, has an actually personality, is an excellent live performer and has songs, some of which, are actually quite good. Essentially he's better than 99.99% of ordinary pop acts that ordinary people hear on TV or radio.

As bizarre as it might seem to you or I, most people take what they are given by the broadcast media and make their music selections based on that.

Since the media believes the public to be retarded because they don't have a Communications/Music Business degree from a redbrick university it's obvious that someone like Robbie Williams is going to rise to the top of, for the most part, the utter pap that gets foisted on us by record company dipshits.
