That's right, it's the 93rd Annual Grey Cup Game tomorrow. I was gonna save this post for the 100th, but figured why wait? Seven years from now the kids will already be chuckling about how their parents used to "post" on things they called "message boards".

So Edmonton Eskimos vs. Montreal Alouettes in Vancouver under the dome. Any of you 'muricans watch this shit?

The short list of potential replies:

It's not real football.
Who cares?
Dude, it's the CFL.
The field is too long.
There aren't enough downs.
Blah blah two teams called the Roughriders blah blah.
Let me know when your country finally gets a pro league.
etcetera...

Go Manitoba in the Curling league BTW. Love those guys. Best brooms in the league.

I haven't in a while, but when Baltimore had a CFL team I went to a ton of games. My employer had season tickets and no one ever wanted to go, so me and some high school friends would pack up some booze and go. It was a blast. We saw Baltimore win the Eastern Conference Championship the year they won the Grey Cup, then lost the team the following year.

I love the rule variations, love the game, it's really fun. I'm gonna have to find this on TV somewheres.

Not valid. It's badass. Longer, wider field and what not.

People round these parts are downright feverish in their love of the Rough Riders. I was kind of surprised actually, the day after a game it's all people could talk about.

Not really a football fan, so I couldn't tell the difference between this league and that other league in that other country that everyone always talks about.

Oh yeh. Football fans watch both leagues. Plus all sports news broadcasts highlights and scores from both leagues. We're bi-gridiron up here.

i love the cfl, but i always find the cbc and tsn broadcasts of the game to be quite amateur in comparison to the american broadcasts of the nfl. the cbc seems to be trying to make an effort this year though, with hd broadcast and the overhead camera you get on most sunday night nfl games. they wont be totally in my good books until they give brian williams i huge kick in the ass off the station though. worst broadcaster EVER.

Apparently you never get games with Phil Simms providing color.

actually, i think phil simms is pretty decent. id take him over the crappy colour commentators we have up here, especially the loudmouth former lineman on cbc. hes up there with brian williams for me.

Yeh, the CBC are pretty bad with their broadcasts. It seems like they even filter out the crowd noise so that the games sound like they're being played to an audience of disinterested housecats (compare it to the crowd noise during an NFL broadcast - they've got the crowd miked way up). The CBC apparently believes it's more important to hear Steve Armitage's every cliche rather than generate a atmosphere of excitement.

Exhibit C - Pat Summerall.

D - Joe Buck.

E - Boomer Esiason (when he was on tee-vee cast of MNF... apparently, he comes across (much) better on the CBS radio cast of same).

Amen brother. Baltimore CFL Colts! Haha. I remember the trophy was on display at the mall and I touched it, no security, nothing.

I've never even seen a CFL game but I would be intrigued to see how it's different than the NFL.

I actually liked it quite a bit...it drew big crowds in Balto., and well, it pretty much rocked my world for like 1 season. Memorial Stadium was a-rockin'. The Argonauts...man, what a name.

That Eastern Conference finals game was one of the best sporting events I've attended.

Was there as well. I remember how crazy it was. I still have the programs somewhere. I should dredge those up and take a trip down memory lane. I also have hats and tees with the Baltimore Colts name on it, pre CFL added.

Wonder where Tracy Ham, Mike Prangle, and Elfrid are now? Did they move to Montreal? Crazy to, to think that in the 2 yr existence we were in the Grey Cup both times. Incredible.

By the way, why the CFL didn't sue the NFL just to get them back over the Colts name, with the SA Texans is beyond me.

Prolly for lack of spite.

As well, the NFL demonstrated its reversed field on duplication of mascots, within the sport, when the League allowed the Tennessee Oilers to become the Titans (which formerly was the name of the Jets).

I don't think, in a U.S. court anyway, that the CFL would have had much of a case, then.

It was on Comcast Sports South, a regional network that shows all kinds of different stuff. The broadcast was the Canadian Network or whatever so they probably just pulled it off satelite and ran the feed.
