recently i've seen....
walk the line (excellent)

derailed (decent if there's nothing else to see. but don't pay full price.)

rent (loved it.)

jarhead (ok. but kind of boring. but worth seeing jake gyllenhaal's ass. thought that might not appeal to you. but maybe it does. and that's okay.)

want to see....
shopgirl
pride & prejudice
capote

can't wait to see....
the chronicles of narnia: the lion, the witch and the wardrobe (but it's not out until next week.)

I want to see Capote, and Walk the Line, and Harry Potter. I've seen none of the above.

Walk The Line. Capote are my two picks for ya...but Transamerica comes out this week I believe in limited and it looks to be very good and funny.

Saw recently:

History of Violence - good, but not as good as the hype. all the two sex scenes were supurb!!

Ice Harvest - not shabby. expected so much more from Cusack and Billy Bob though

Sara Silverman's Jesus is Magic - pretty funny. filthy mouth on her.. love her.

I saw Walk The Line and Jarhead on sunday and they were both pretty good. Walk The Line was a little better but Jarhead was pretty entertaining and kind of funny, since I was in somewhat the same situation.

indeed. Both are qual. Can highly recommend both. Did you like 'In Cold Blood' or have you not read it. I still think Capote would be good even if you've never read that book.

I wasn't that impressed with Good Night, and Good Luck. It's a great story, but it didn't really make such a great movie. Could've just been a document. All The President's Men it's not.

Never read it. I just know he's an interesting character in real life. He used to write for the New Yorker a lot and I loved reading him there. great voice!
Those two are definite must see's!

Thanks!

Yeah, I would see those then definitely. Jarhead was great as well. My order:

Walk The Line
Jarhead
Capote

Agree with Capote, Walk The Line and Good Night/Good Luck---all three are very good. Hoffman, Phoenix and Strathairn will all likely garner best actor noms for these performances.

I didn't like Potter 3 and History of Violence as much as many did.

I saw The Squid & The Whale yesterday---pretty good, but I was expecting more based on what I'd read.

Very hyped about seeing this film. Noah Baumbach is a-ok in my book after Life Aquatic.

I really enjoyed it. I haven't read any of Steve Martin's works, but after seeing this I'm going to check out some of his stuff.

potter's good, but there's something lacking in the direction. just as dark as #3, but seemed quite unfocused compared to #3. a bunch of extra shots and camera focus veering, plus ron's problems with harry & hermione aren't developed well enough -- he just seems to be in a redherring snit.

i've been waiting for this for like 3 years (when they were writing this & tenenbaums at the same time), but invariably won't see it in the theater.

-when does that Murrow movie come out?

-The Sarah Silverman movie looks like it'll be hilarious or awful. Sometimes I think I'd be in love with her.

-Mark Mothersbaugh did the music for that snowboarding movie?

Seems like everything I wanted to see has come and gone (mostly)...

Only got to see "History of Violence" in the theater...and it was pretty good. I'm a sucker for the Bartion-Fink-style semi-"slow burn" films...
