Anyone heard this? I'm digging it on first listen. Still morose, dark humor, but instead of acoustic arrangements, I'm being treated to some cool electro-atmospherics. Has he been doing this in his last few records? I haven't heard anything since Caught In a Trap....

I haven't listened to anything of his since the song "the boy with the hammer", but it had some electro percussion to it, so your description doesn't surprise me. i wouldn't mind checking it out.

Ugly American had some electronic arrangements, but AMC's Ladies & Gentlemen (04) had next to nothing. I want a taste of this - you got a link?

This is a kinda half-ass collection of stuff that was supposed to go on a soundtrack with some more demo-y acoustic numbers. His songs are good, but his electronic stuff is amateurish - and not in a charming way like maybe on The Invisible Man.

Prior to this, his solo stuff has been on a weird course. His last two records have been The Ugly American (new versions of his songs with some Greek musicians) and Music for Courage and Confidence (covers of stuff by Culture Club, Curtis Mayfield, Anne Murray, etc.). Both work better than they should be.

If intrigued by the guy, any American Music Club record is better than his solo work. And if you want flat out spare Eitzel, his Songs of Love Live set destroys.
