I've given the impression to a friend on my softball team that I'd accept and play his reggaeton demo at work. I've also given him the impression that I'd record his friend's vocals at my place. What have I gotten myself into?

It sounds like you need to work on your impressions. Stick to Bush, Clinton, Jay Leno, the usuals.

That was the song that got me into XTC.

I was walking
I was walking into walls
I'm back again
I just keep walking
I walk into a window
To see myself
And my reflection
When I thought about it
My direction
Going nowhere

(Maybe we don't need U2 reggaeton, though)

gasolina is an awesome song, but it ran out it's welcome at least six months ago.

gasolina is not a song at all, let alone an awesome one.

They don't have any windows, per se... its a shanty. I vacated and just came back in, they're quiet now, just drinking under the sodium lights in the center of the court among the evicerated pinata parts. I need to stay tight with them b/c I need the regulation size sand volleyball court that dominates his whole yard for the tournament during next weekend's San Pablo Neighborhood Block Party I am planning...

"You may ask yourself. "Self, how did I get here?"

All of this genre is horrible, EXCEPT for Gasolina. That is a very catchy song and I'd question anyone's tastes that thinks it's horrible or not even a song. If you don't like it, cool, but to say it's not a song...

[rant]Gasolina was OK, but not unlike Hey Yeah! it has been overplayed, and then there are about six trillion reggaeton remixes of already bad pop-rap that get played over and over and over and over and over---- ordinarily on DJ setups with one hundred and twenty one jigawatt amps.[/rant]

I totally hear ya and completely agree with you. Actually though, the remix with Pitbull was/is pretty great.

PS Yeah, me, too.

So now you can't be into bands that were around before you were born?

No, I guess not, but when she said, "...that was the song...", it reminded me of when the song came out, and I assumed that's what she meant. I realize now that's not what she said, but neither did she say to the contrary, neither. It still seems fishy.

Not XTC Related...
but we DO all need a big reduction in the price of beer

[que swelling Ave Maria string section now]
and just think of it: If one could not be into any band that was before their time...just think of it....its its marginally glorious!*
[/que swelling Ave Maria string section now]

* this is called irony, an element of humor, so don't think I'm pissing in your Count Chocula, someone else did that.
