they're pretty energetic, and the drummer/singer is all bouncy and kind of looks like a muppet.

They're pretty good. I saw them with the Walkmen, and the Walkmen overshadowed them a little bit. But I'd still recommend them.

i saw them this past summer. i think they were okay. they could've been better, but they were opening for my morning jacket, so, you know, my memory may be a bit skewed since they destroy live. i do, though, remember the singer aimlessly ambling around the stage and purposely tangling his hands in the mic cord. (i thought the singer was the drummer, but apparently not.)

also, french kicks cancelled at the khyber a few years ago on a really frigid night and i didn't find out til i got to the door, so i wasn't too happy. i always think about that with them.

bands that sing a lot of harmonies on the record usually fail to impress me much live. that's my biggest concern.

I remember that happening. fortunately I wasn't there. This is at the North Star.

They hit the harmonies fairly well actually. Last few times I saw them they were a bit reserved (opening slots, not crowded rooms). Who's playing live drums for them now?

oh yeah, not fun. we stayed because oranges band was playing, but we endured two pretty bad openers. and this guy that my friend barely knew came over to us and was being generally annoying, then asked me to drive him home to allentown. i was like, "no way, pal."

I saw them open for the Posies two summers ago at a street fair and liked them a lot, thought they sounded really tight and I even danced around a little. Saw them open this summer for MMJ and I just don't remember their set at all, and I was in the front row. Guess I didn't like them.

Saw them open for Hot Hot Heat a couple years ago and was not won over AT ALL. Nothing about them appealed to me in the least.
