I am so over Pitchfork.
Not that I was ever under them, but still...

Hell, I don't even read the damn thing anymore.

I don't always agree with the extremes of their ratings (so, 9s are usually more like 7s to me), but most stuff in the 7-8 rating isn't usually horrible and whatnot.

I dunno, I'm still interested, first, in finding new music - if it's something Schreiber likes, that's not gonna hold me back, ya know? I mean, I disagree with y'all about a lot of stuff, but enthusiasm goes a long way...

Yeah - this is more than enough to get me interested...

The YYY "influence" = almost enough to turn me off...

and Life Without Buildings broke up after recording "Any Other City" & 1 other EP... Haven't heard/found anything about ex-members...

So a fair question, who is better or do you relate to any on-line/magazine publication? It's so in to bash whatever is number one but I use Pitchfork along with other things and listen for myself. They are a lot more right than wrong (some people make them out to be NME) but find myself liking the tastemakers at Stylus Magazine the most these days.

Stylus and Pitchfoirk both sucked the last time I read them, which was so long ago they dont even show up on my browser. Music publications are gay.

They all seem like they're 15 years old.

However, I do like how you can actually comment on their rreviews. Unlike P'fork which has squashed the letters section.

Stylus Magazine has vastly improved over the years, especially this one. They are actually not paying their writers for reviews, so the whole thing is based on the love of the music. I would expect them to cut corners or not put a lot into their reviews but they actually seem to get into it with a bit more detail. The Band, ELO, and B-sides articles, all within the last two weeks, have been great reads with writers who actually know or do proper homework in most cases.

Everyone in this thread visits Pitchfork on a daily basis. I used to protest against them, but once I realized that the people who worship them also try to be part of the backlash against them I just gave up. Everytime a new band gets an 8.0 or above, there's an Obner thread asking about them less than 3 hours later.

Until...now. I don't hate Pitchfork because I don't read it.

I don't mind Pitchfork, and usually like the albums they give high ratings to. Lately I've liked Cokemachineglow.com and Stylus.

I could see this growing on me somewhat, but it's not quite the home run the review set the album up to be.

Now that I've posted in it, your conjecture is less sound.
