that's the walter meego ep. they're a chicago band. it'd go on my list too. they can't quite figure out if they want to be a rock'n'roll band or an electronica group, but they've got some excellent songs.

Night Rally/Clickers split EP.

Here is a link to a page with Night Rally's MP3s from this EP: http://www.honeypump.net/records/hpr-releases.htm

Clickers disbanded right around the time that this EP went to press. Night Rally just finished recording their first full-length with some of the TVOTR folks.

that's the only EP I've picked up this year; good thing I like it quite a bit.

Didnt Okkervil River come out with an EP? I've slowly soured on that record as the year has progressed; still okay but not as strong as I once thought---that being said I'd love to hear any comments on the EP

Also, how is that Iron & Wine ep?

I saw their singer open for American Analog Set, solo and acoustic and he was soooo boring. It's really really tough to turn "Idioteque" into a bad song.

That sounds like a challenge! I say we all try to do a cover of Idioteque and see who can come up with the best/worst.

For some reason, I always listen to the bands you hype, maybe because you hype so few or maybe because I have liked other ones you have hyped.

Considering it's still about half the length of Blueberry Boat, I think it qualifies.

I guess there are just two types of EPs, those by the Fiery Furnaces, and all the other, normal length ones everyone else puts out.

I'm guessing it'll be me. Let me borrow a guitar, or really any instrument, when I'm there and I'll give it a shot.

The only EP purchased this year. I can't even think of five decent ones.

It's really fucking fun. The title track becomes something ebulient, from something toterlly raw. The B-side might be even better.

I haven't really heard enough EPs to make much of a ranking, but these are all good:

Iron & Wine/Calexico - In the Reins
Animal Collective/Vashti Bunyan - Prospect Hummer
Deerhoof - Green Cosmos
Shearwater - Thieves
Iron & Wine - Woman King

Once I started thinking about, I realized I actually heard more EPs this year than I thought. I'll have to go, just like everyone else, with the two Iron & Wine ones as the best though.
