... and i'm not all that excited about it. i can't help but feel like such a target audience, like i'm such a sucker and so predictable that they're pretty much writing their own ticket to as much of my money as they want. i just want the hits, man, and then i want to go home and pray that my childhood heroes never "reform" again.

Unless they're Gang of Four?

good point. although for some reason it doesn't seem like such a cash-in when it's gang of four like it does when frank black puts his man-rod into my bunger and ticketmasters me for $75.36.

Right, because the Pixies should be living in near poverty while the fuckheads in Hoobastank and Nickleback are riding around in gold-plated Hummers.

I was quite fortunate to be able to see the Pixies this spring for a measly thirty bucks Canadian, but I would have paid whatever they wanted to charg to finally see one of my favourite bands play.

I just saw the Pixies this past Friday in New Jersey 7th row on the floor. I don't know how my friend got those tix ($40) but they would have been worth three times that.

I know the show is a sell out, all pun intended, and I think that is part of the joke... ala Nimrod, but I think they are as surprised as anyone with the success of this tour. From what I've read David and Joe probably need the money the most and if I were a 300 lb, bald 40 something 80's rock guy I'd try to cash in a little too.

Regardless, they rock out with their c@cks out and it is a great show. I'm going to see them again in NYC next week.

i was impressed with how note for note all the songs were. particularly Joey Santiago's parts. So much of what he adds sound sounds off the cuff and raw . . . but he nails all of it.

True, even down to the feedback. I was impressed myself.

yeah, you guys were right, great show. it still felt like they were really treating this more like a play than anything, just getting up and doing their lines, as in i didn't really get the sense that playing these songs was something that they really wanted to do, there wasn't a lot of joy on their end. i think that the crowd brought enough though.

I look at this way: The Pixies have provided me with at least $50 worth of entertainment and life affirming experiences in my life. It was my pleasure to give them my cash so they can retire and be fat and happy...
