Just curious.
I did from about 7th to 9th grade, when I first started really getting into music.

I have a friend who works for the D&D company and has written a couple of books - Eric Cagle. He happens to be a helluva bass player, too.

I played for a while in grade 7 & 8.

My female friends used to warn me that it "led to Satan worshipping". (This coming from totally lefty-raised, non-religious children of artists...???)

I think they were just jealous that I was hanging out with the boys.

heh heh

I'm pretty sure Billzebub has been beat up for playing.

I was kinda into Dungeons & Dragons but I never really played it.

Even then that seemed far too geeky and stupid. I mean seriously, who was going to learn all the rules and pretend to be a dungeon master and roll 20 sided dice? I don't think so!

I was more into the monster manuals and reading about all the spells and character classes and the fantasy art aspect. Not that that isn't pretty geeky but it's all relative.

The cartoon was good as well. To an 8 year old Tiamat was very cool. The best episode was the one with Demo-Dragon in it!

No. Not a sci/fi or role player type person.

Only kidding, daddy-O. Used to watch the cartoon on Saturdays, but that's as far as I could venture into the realm.

Last time I played I think was 1982.

Used to kick butt at Boot Hill, too, which was kind of the Western D & D.

i played it a couple of times. these dudes I played with were horrible though - they just cheated and rolled the dice about a million times so they got the highest levels on everything while I was stuck with some level 9 dishwasher.

Just bought some TSR AD&D figures from Ebay for old times sake. I wanted to relieve early 80's memories and had to buy them.

That game has stolen friends from me. They don't have time to do anything now, not even eat, because they have to play WoW.

I used to be this way with "EverCrack (Everquest)". It sucked 2.5 years away from my life. Not good. Especially when your wife wakes up for work, and you are still up after trying to retrieve your body(in game) all night... Ack...)

I played in Jr High. But I got more into Top Secret which was a modern espionage game from the same company, TSR.

I got hipped to that when I was still in grade school but never followed up & by the time I got into D&D later, TS had completly redesigned itself. That's when I started buying the books & stuff.

i did in grade school / high school.

in college i mudd'd for a semester until i felt it was affecting my grades, then i purposefully sent my characters on suicide missions.

after college i dabbled in Magic (tm), but it never really flared my wand.

Was it an armored dishwasher? What kind of weapons or magic did it have?

I've played every geeky table top RPG you can think of. Haven't played in about 12 years now. Played all through high school and into part of college. Funnily enough, I was just thumbing through my old AD&D books last night for reading material before I went to sleep.

Like the OP, my peak AD&D years were from 7th to 9th grade. A combination of things (school plays, girls, music) resulted in the end of our group, though we did have one last hurrah by attending GenCon (the mother of all gaming conventions). I was pretty into Magic: The Gathering at the same time.

I actually have really fond memories of it, and I still talk to most of the guys I did it with. That said, I'm not exactly mentioning it in personals ads.

You know, I thought "hmm, I might be opening myself up to something there" when I wrote that, but then I thought "Maybe this isn't that type of board."

Now I see that it is. To which I can only give an enthusiastic thumbs-up! (and perhaps a middle finger) :)
