This deserved its own thread.

- getting drunk and looking at xmas lights while pondering life (my roommate and i did this a lot last year. we also watched 'the shining' with only the lights of the tree and windows on.. scary)

- mistletoe. how awesome is mistletoe? it's like a "get out of sex offender's jail free" card. kissing rules.

Getting presents is always a plus. Getting a month off from school is also nice.

the only reason why i would love christmas, my friends throw a "bad santa" party. so i love getting an offensive gift for one of my dearest friends. ;) it's the best party we have all year.

- spending time with my loved ones (read: the people I want to spend it with, not the people I have to spend it with)

- four day weekends

- candles in windows

- the smell of spruce in the house

- seeing my pups get all excited when I give them their Christmas stocking full of new toys to shred (I don't have kids, so this is the closest thing to parental pride I can come up with!) ;)

- mulled wine

- holiday cookies

the anticipation of watching your family and friends open the gift you got them because you KNOW it's perfect for them and you can't wait to surprise them!

wrapping presents! (i love it!)

christmas morning homemade sausage gravy & biscuits

the lights on the christmas tree.

watching 'it's a wonderful life', 'home alone' and 'a christmas story'.

christmas drinking!!!!!!!!

and yes, getting presents is pretty nice too.
(but i truly DO love giving more.)

even though I bitch about it: most of the world kinda takes the month off, so who am I to complain?

Also, I like getting loot because I can see that it makes people happy to make me happy and I feel likewise about them.

Home is usually too far away for me to make it there, so what Red said about getting drunk and looking at xmas lights, that's my favourite. I've got lights hung up all over my apartment. It kind of looks like the hooker's place in Eyes Wide Shut.

So that's my favourite, boozing in a reddish, greeny glow. And eating lots of bad food. All day long. For 2 weeks.

Spending time with family/friends.
I love giving stuff to folks that actually appreciate the effort.
I seriously could give 2 shits about getting ANYTHING. And I like that about me.

The biggest thing this year is spending my first Christmas with the girl that I love. She's the best thing that ever happened to me and I look forward to every Christmas that I get to share with her.

Oh and also this year, the first of many deep fried turkeys I'll be preparing at the house.

YEAU!!!

i dunno, my family never all makes it, so it turns into like this half-baked loveathon that I usually duck out on most of. Every Xmas morning my family goes to the hospital to sing carol and pass out poinsettias to patients who are stuck there for the day. It's nice because I get to spend more time with my dad and it's a nice distraction from the humbuggery I usually occupy myself with.

i like the cider the orchards up the street from me make.

i get phone calls from people I thought were dead. i usually don't pick up.

i love baking xmas cookies and xmas food. if i could spend the rest of my life baking daily, i'd be a happy girl. well, a happier girl.

my grandma makes the best stuffing ever, so i have that to look forward to.

my dad writes me a note every christmas saying how much he loves me and is proud of me (even though there's not much to be proud of these days).

my mom hates xmas even more than i do, so she and i usually end up sitting in the corner making fun of people and drinking.

guess i've got some pretty great things to love about christmas.

but that mistletoe... goddamn, that's hottt..........

I love winter -- especially cold, dry winters -- it's the only time of year that I can breathe (all the mold goes into remission).

Also, skiing.

Eric Cartman's rendition of "O Holy Night".
