placed an order on 12/13, everything was in stock and said "usually ships within 24 hours," and I've been waiting for this to get processed and shipped for a xmas gift. now, NOW (12/21!) I get an email saying that my order is delayed. i know they must get an obscene amount of orders around this time, but cmon, this isn't like it's the first christmas that amazon has ever had. So, I have three options a) leave the order as is, accept embarrassment to the gift receiver that they open the gift after the new year, b) pray to the internet commerce gods that it somehow gets here in time, c) bump up my shipping which is going to add $20-$30 to the order. i've emailed amazon customer service but I'm not naive enough that I think i'll hear anything back.

what the fuck.

i'd be surprised if they didn't upgrade your shipping automatically. i got an order delivered the other day where the online tracking said it was in Baltimore.

now i don't get it. I did have Free Express shipping on it originally. But now because of this mishap I changed it to standard shipping. And now it's saying they are preparing this for shipping and are estimating delivery on the 23rd. god i hope they're right.

Is the person yr giving it to important (ie..someone you are only going to see over the holiday) or someone who you see day in and day out? If they are the first, I'd maybe think about a preemptive bump in shipping, but for the latter I'd just take it on the chin and apologize to the parties. Most people are understanding, and realize xmas shipping is horrid.

Why don't you cancel the order and just go to a store and buy the books and DVD-R's yourself?

that's my contingency plan that I've already thought of. The physical act of shopping terrifies me, though. But yeah, if it doesn't look like it's getting here by Friday I'll hit the stores.

I have a Prime membership, and have never had any problems.

I ordered a digicam yesterday and it will be meeting me in TX.

So, there will be pics of the Loog/FT/Jagged 1st Annual Lighting on Fire of a Homeless Man to Bring OUrselves Holiday Cheer.

Similar thing happened to me with one of Mrs. Dawg's Xmas presents...I ordered via Amazon, but it was one of those people that use Amazon as a storefront.

They didn't let me know they didn't actually have the item for like, 3-4 days.

But I was able to scramble & get it elsewhere - package should be here today ( UPS tried to deliver yesterday, but no one was here to accept the package ) .

I feel very lucky, I put in an order last Tuesday and got it by Monday.

I can't believe it's the 21st already.
I'm sure your order will be here before the weekend, if not, that's when you panic.
Give them an "IOU" note.

I placed a last minute order on Monday, and they're estimating it to be delivered by the 23rd. Yeah, fat chance. When I checked my account, it hasn't even shipped yet; it's still in the "preparing for shipping" stage. It's not a dealbreaker for Christmas so I don't mind waiting longer for it.

Last Xmas I bought $200 in DVDs and some asshole in my apartment building stole the package. I contacted Amazon and they resent the merchandise! While I got my stuff, Amazon really needs to send it Fed Ex or UPS, where someone can sign for it. The postman left it in the lobby where some jackass could walk off with it.

It's worth noting that it could have been a delivery guy.

Or at least some person of color.

I had some words with The Bombay Company over an order. They emailed me back promptly apologizing and thanking me for alerting them to a wording error on their website and then promised my order would be shipped that day. It was, and it made it here right away.

Amazon is iffy, I ordered some books for my ma and they had told me 24 shipping and yet didn't send it out for several days cause of "delays" but then the next day it made it out and it got here two days later.

I ordered a box of a bunch of different flavors of brownies for my stepdad and in the e-mail I got beforehand it said 2 day shipping upgrade but when the order went through it said nothing about it. They estimated delivery as tomorrow though so I think everything should be cool.
